Hello & Welcome to
Kitsch-n-Kaboodle!!
Hi! Thanks for checking us out! This page was created to give you some background information on our business to better assure you of your transaction.
For any questions you might have, please e-mail or call us, or check our FAQ's and Store Policies page, where there is a wealth of info. We are happy to address any concerns or make any clarifications personally. We may not check our e-mail or telephone messages on a daily basis, so please give us one to three days, and we will be sure to send you a reply.
If you don't receive a reply within three days, simply resend your request, as your message may have been lost in cyberspace or filtered by accident. Thanks again for your business! We look forward to hearing from you!
BID WITH CONFIDENCE: We have been in this business for over 20 years, selling on ebay since the beginning. We have tons of great FB and love to help! We are more knowledgable about our items than most dealers and the typical novices you find selling on ebay. We know our stuff! And we offer the very best of it at the cheapest prices you will find anywhere. We are not a faceless corporation. We are the classic mom&pop shop, or rather in our case, mom&son. When you deal with us, or when you contact us, you speak to a real person. You get our full attention, personally. And we believe that is the way it should be. We will deal with you and treat you as an individual and a human being, so long as you treat us the same way in return. Welcome! And happy shopping!
CONTACT INFO & HOURS: Please feel free to ask questions about items, but keep in mind that although this is a full time business, there are only a couple of us here to handle questions. We may be on the road delivering, or in the shop either restoring or packaging an item. We do not have help to answer inquiries, and we do not keep regular store hours. Our hours and schedule may fluctuate or change. In many cases we will not be able to provide 24-hour or next-day service. Please be patient. We will return all inquiries as promptly as possible.
Our main e-mail, for general inquiries about items: furniture@kitsch-n-kaboodle.com
Our secondary e-mail for shipping inquiries: shipkitsch@yahoo.com
Our general telephone answering service and fax line: 215-382-1354.
Our main telephone line for customer service: 267-970-5221.
"Desk" hours for office, paperwork, site maintenance, payment processing: Wed-Sat, noon-8pm EST.
Existing customers who have already placed orders are also given my personal cell # for emergencies and may call any day, except hollidays. If you get my voicemail, there is a genuine reason I can't pick up the phone (such as fingers full of paint!), so leave a message. Please keep in mind we are on eastern standard time.
SEND YOUR SUGGESTIONS AND COMMENTS to furniture@kitsch-n-kaboodle.com. We are constantly working to upgrade the store and its items, in both content and presentation. SEND US YOUR SUGGESTIONS AND FEEDBACK!! I have had numerous friendly conversations with customers over the phone gabbing about changes and how to make things work better! The style of how we offer our services here in the store on ebay has been redesigned 4 times in the past year alone! And each time I've had accolades as well as further suggestions from ebayers. From a seller's point of view, and someone who knows the system and has been using it every day for 10 years, it's easy for me to miss things or take things for granted about how the store works and how you view items. You may have difficulty that I may not be able to notice, or something may not work correctly due to a glitch that I don't know about, etc. It just may look different to you than it does to us. Your feedback and suggestions are always accepted and invited. I have used several customer suggestions just recently to streamline the store and make it easier to see and to use. By all means, do not be afraid to send us your own recomendations! Part of the reason we sell on ebay is because it is a community!
INTEGRITY OF PICTURES, DESCRIPTIONS, and QUALITY: We are experienced and knowledgeable and have a good reputation for accurate descriptions. I have visual, design, writing, and photographic training, and apply my professional talents to my items in every aspect of my sales, from acquisition of new items, to cleaning, polishing, and restoration, right down to the type you are now reading and the pics on each item. ALL items will match descriptions. I write the descriptions and inspect the items personally. I perform the majority of restoration work myself, and a large part of packaging. I am very picky, and so are my descriptions. As this business is very competitive, we seek items that are "best in show" or otherwise have desirable or unusual traits about them compared to the norm, and our descriptions are super-specific to illustrate this and highlight these qualities. The most common comment I get about our photos and descriptions is that they are too picky. Customers constantly comment that items are even better in person than they appear on the store. In many cases I have spare pictures of items that don't fit on a listing, so feel free to ask for extra pics of an item. If I have them, I will e-mail links. If it is absolutely required, I rephotograph items for specific customers by request, although this may take some time to complete.
Likewise for our custom painted finishes, which are difficult to illustrate on a screen and show the extreme difference and superiority compared to the low-quality paintjobs you find in most of the antique malls. All custom work, both painting and refinishing, is so difficult to capture in the exact color, texture, and feel of our premium-quality finish, so we now offer samples by mail. Our work is of the best professional quality, completely smooth to the touch, and thorough in every detail. Often on ebay, items titled "refinished" are tacky, coarse, or gritty, reflecting a novice poor quality surface, under which you will find tiny scratch marks from a clutsy sander-removed stripping job (the "wrong way"). Our items are stripped using a gentle chemical process that protects the surface of the wood. Other painted "chic" distressed finishes you find on-line are of like poor quality, dripping with paint that is too thick, with sag marks, not completely covered in the recesses, or else too thick and drowned of detail in the recesses, and inauthentically scratched through the wood itself only on corners and extremities. Our painted pieces are worn gently and subtly, not just on the outer edges, but everywhere, including interior flat areas, with gradations in wear that give the look and feel of true antiquity. We pay close attention to the existing imperfections on a piece that give it character, and use our paint to highlight the true character of an item, placing wear unilatterally on every surface, but taking great care to make it non-uniform, more worn in the areas where it should be worn from 100 years of use. We then apply the same super-sleek and smooth satin-touch professional varnish coat. We offer as many as 12 custom colors, which you will not find with any other restorer on-line or in person.
Our subtly of craft and extreme attention to detail make it extra difficult to get across in pics and descriptions, so you may request or order real-life paint samples, finished the same as our pieces, either wood-tone refinished, or distressed-chic-painted. We are happy to proove to you the superiority of our craftsmanship and the truth and integrity of what we publish.
FEEDBACK: We post feedback when we can, but it often takes some time to get around to it. Please be patient, and we will be sure to make our comments in time. Our FB is always independent of what you say about us, but we always ask that you wait until after a transaction is fully completed before making your comment. We will wait until we see an item is delivered on tracking before leaving FB, and we ask that you do the same. Comments should be based on both the item AND the entire experience of shopping for it.
