OUR HISTORY: Status International Auctions is part of the I S Wright Collectibles Group. The owner I S Wright first entered the stamp and coin business in 1972 and for the past 35 years has continually expanded, opening his first shop in Ballarat, Victoria in 1973, his second also in Ballarat 1976, followed by the purchase of Coin Buyer's International business in Melbourne in 1981 and a fourth shop in Adelaide, South Australia in 1984 with the take over of Nugent's Stamps & Coins.

Since 1981, Australian Numismatic Co, another division of the business has been running bimonthly Postal Auctions of Coins and Banknotes. In 1988 I S Wright expanded into Medals and Militaria when he purchased Ray Tancred's Militaria business and museum. The business was relocated to Ballarat and the contents of the museum sold through the bimonthly "I S Wright Militaria Postal Auctions".

In 1990 a 3 storey building of more than 1000 sq metres was purchased to house all the Ballarat businesses. In 1991 the business expanded still further with the purchase of Martin Daniels Coin shop in Sydney. This was followed by the opening of a second Sydney shop in 1992.

In 1996 Status International Public Auctions, Sydney was purchased. All 3 Sydney businesses were consolidated in 1999 into Sydney's largest Stamp, Coin and Militaria business and Australia's largest public Stamp and Coin auction, located in the central Sydney CBD. Due to the expanding business it was necessary to move the Sydney business to larger premises. This was accomplished in 2006 when I S Wright bought a four storey building of 1000 square metres, at 262 Castlereagh St, in Sydney's CBD to house the Sydney operation and act as corporate headquarters.

We are members of the following organisations:-> Australasian Philatelic Traders' Association (APTA), Philatelic Traders' Society GB (PTS), International Federation of Stamp Dealers' Association (IFSDA), American Philatelic Society (APS), Australian Numismatic Dealers' Association (ANDA), American Numismatic Association (ANA) as well as numerous other stamp and coin associations and clubs.
