I'm a nice person,, this is a hobby not a job so if theres a problem a nice polite email will get a nice polite response and we can work it out. An angry, threatening email will get no response whatsoever. Theres enough conflict in the world so lets be polite, lifes sooo much easier that way
NOT CHECKED OR CATALOGUED . I buy in bulk and sell in bulk normally. I remove the pages from albums by country or geographical area, count how many whole pages there are and list them. I do not check anything including condition/ stuck down ness but I do not catalogue either. Sometimes the pile of pages will be full of gems but sometimes they will be just common stamps. I have had emails saying some bundles had stamps worth hundreds of dollars and others saying poor value. So sometimes you win sometimes you loose but I genuinely do not check stamps. I do not charge catalogue prices and you do not pay a catalogue price. Saying that I have many customers in several countries who buy loads and loads of pages, so I must be doing something right.
On feedback, my system automatically responds to feedback but new feedback system sucks as do detailed seller ratings. if certain sellers are letting down buyers ebay should take action against them not all sellers. I've seen sellers with 1000 nuetral/negative in 1 year(they sold 72000) they should be the sellers ebay targets not all of us. since ebay charges fees acording to feedback/seller ratings the only person you benefit by leaving poor feddback is ebay, it doesnt affect sales only the fees we pay. if problem contact please. I will not negoiate over items lost in post however, the risks are plainly stated so i will apologise for the disappointment, if possible claim compensation for you but NEVER refund. Paypal claimbacks are theft as far as i'm concerned.
Debate..... ebay's great for collectors it gives access to many more markets than before and it's now easy for the stamp collector to get what he wants when he wants..BUT prices are depressed so low that dealers have to source material at ever lower prices. Where do we get our supplies--- from you collectors when you stop collectiing or from your relatives etc. So the irony is that because collectors drive down prices, they also drive down the value of their collections. Whereas 5 years ago I'd quite happily buy at 10-20% catalogue, it's more likely to be 5% catalogue now. I am not alone in this dealers meet at philatelic auctions etc and we talk just cos I won't buy at over 5% you can't go elsewhere because the next dealer will be the same, any dealer that doesn't goes bankrupt pretty quick. I was recently offered pair of imperial albums with stamps cataloguing at £59,000 for £5,500, I turned it down, he got £3,000 in the end so the only winner is: Ebay it gets its fees no matter what. Comments welcome.
