Manufacturers offer the original warranty from 90 days to 2 years based on product specifications. Extended warranties are available on all reconditioned products. Look for the extended warranty graphic above the buy it button. 1)Consumer laws prevent manufacturers from selling factory reconditioned as "new", so they offer the best possible deals to move the product that has been repaired or reboxed. 2)Most major retail superstores offer a 30-day money back guarantee. These items are returned to the manufacturer, inspected and repackaged like new with a disclaimer on the box stating the unit is factory reconditioned. In most cases they reseal the box and put the reconditioned tag on the equipment. 3)Items where the box or casing was damaged in shipment which are returned to the manufacturer. The item was returned to the manufacturer because of a slight defect. 4)The part that was defective was replaced by the manufacturer, tested and then repackaged and tagged defective. 5)The item was returned because of a minor cosmetic blemish on the casing that was corrected. 6)Demonstration units are also considered factory reconditioned. These units are inspected, tested, repackaged and marked reconditioned. 7)The box was opened and returned. 8)Brand new overstocked items are also labeled factory reconditioned in order to move the product. 9)All factory reconditioned equipment is inspected & serviced if necessary by the original manufacturer to meet original product specifications. All merchandise is warrantied by the original manufacturer unless otherwise specified. 10)Reconditioned items have a much lower defect rate. From 10 units that come back for repair only 1 is usually a factory refurb, because reconditioned units are tested before they are sold.
