Helpful Styling Tips: The Sure Fit Guide to perfect-fitting slipcovers!
TUCK TIGHT
Use a long-handled wooden spoon or spatula to work fabric deep into crevices.
TIGHTEN LOOSE BACK PILLOWS
Before positioning your slipcover, lay the pillows flat across the back of your sofa, loveseat or chair. Multi-pillow styles may require the removal of one pillow.
BEEF UP SKINNY ARMS
Wrap foam batting around the arms to pad and shape. Then follow instructions for applying slipcovers.
TRIM T-CUSHIONS
Pull the elastic cover over the T-cushion, making sure to tuck the fabric around the "T", repeat on the T-cushion at the other end. Then follow slipcover instructions. Note: Straight skirts require a bit more tucking around T-cushions.
SMOOTH SECTIONALS
Purchase the appropriate size slipcover for each piece of your sectional (usually a sofa and loveseat slipcover). Separate sectional pieces and follow instructions to fit slipcovers. You'll have excess fabric where the two sectionals meet. Tuck and fold this fabric down, then push the sectional pieces together.
UNDRESS SOFA BEDS
When it's time for bed, remove the slipcover from the arms and seat, then open the sofa bed. In the morning, fold away the bed and restyle the slipcover.
TAILOR LARGE CHAIRS
Use a loveseat size slipcover for a large chair or a chair-and-a-half. Follow the instructions, tucking away any excess fabric.
UN-SLICK LEATHER
Lay non-skid strips used for carpeting on top of your seat cushions. This will keep your slipcover from sliding out of place once it's on.
REMOVE WRINKLES
Simply toss the cover into the dryer with a damp washcloth for a few minutes at low heat and the wrinkles magically disappear!
