Chriss Haight Pagani is a traveling painter and photographer based on the Oregon Coast. The artist's work explores the disappearing natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest and the hidden cultural underbelly of isolation and loss that characterizes contemporary culture. The artist has been exhibited in Oregon and Washington and is featured in many private and public collections such as the Ernst & Young of Los Angeles, Mount Gay Distilleries, and the Westport Gallery. In 2009, Chriss was a winner of the Tillamook County "Best In Class" for works on paper, as well as first place for portraits and first place for landscapes. In 2008, the artist one first place at that same event for landscapes. Chriss was raised in Oregon and California, having grown up in a family in turmoil; often homeless or in transient housing. The artist holds degrees from Western Medical College and the New York Institute of Photography. ...Learn more at the Roadside Artist's Studio.
"I am an Oregon native and the primary subject of my art is the natural beauty of Oregon, painted in the naturalistic abstract impressionist style I learned from American Watercolor Society master artist Dominic DiStefano, or photographed with a certain raw, gritty and naive style I owe to sister traveler Juliana Beasley - with additional influences and inspiration from masters Winslow Homer, Edgar Degas and - of course - Amy Stein." "For me, art is still an escape (of sorts) as well as a profession. Yet I've managed to produce a wide range of fine art which flows from my soul - to you." "My art may be called "award-winning" thanks to a few 1st prizes and "Best in Class" awards. In addition, my photographs and art have been featured in a few books and magazines. I am even found - at least occasionally - in a gallery or two, as well as some wonderful individual and corporate collections. I think it is reasonable for me to consider myself to be a master artist at this point in my life and career. And considering where I've come from, who would have ever thought that?" "Homeless no longer, I still prefer to keep things loose and un-anchored. You see - at least for me - 'home is where my art is.'"
