He is a retired U.S. Army Iraqi War Veteran who has re-enlisted, married and retraining for a new job in the military. My other two boys are 15 and 12, both very active in sports and friends. We stay busy throughout the fair weather months with all the activities that boys do. When I can, I spend time with friends and ride my motorcycle. I am not one to sit idle and I have a passion for books. One of my dreams was to have my own book store. Enjoy yourself browsing through the variety I have here in my store now. Please keep in mind what a great gift a book can be. A book from the year of their birth or perhaps something that renews a fond childhood memory. Nothing gives me greater satisfaction than having a book that someone has been searching for and finally found. Have fun and look around. I would like to address some things that I feel should be covered & hope everyone reads before bidding: The star rating system: When you leave feedback for a seller, you will see that according to the rating system, a ''4'' means good. But according to the criteria used by eBay to rate its sellers, a 4 isn't good at all. In fact, it's bad. This is extremely misleading & unfair to both the buyer & the seller. Since the final value fees were increased by as much as 72% for most small sellers, a lot of us are barely hanging on as it is. In fact, many couldn't hang on & are already gone. You might unknowingly help put one of your favorite sellers out of business here on eBay by your feedback, thinking that a 4 is good when it's actually just the opposite. Another point to consider: Although you have a choice as a buyer to leave a positive, neutral or negative feedback rating for a seller, be aware that a neutral isn't a neutral anymore. Not for sellers, anyway. This doesn't apply to buyers since they can no longer receive anything but positive feedback. eBay now considers a neutral feedback as a negative. This, too, is quite misleading to buyers & again, so unfair to both parties. Before you leave feedback for me or any other seller, please consider the consequences, and always at least contact your seller before leaving bad feedback if you're unhappy & give them a chance to correct the problem first. Another confusing star rating is ''shipping time''. Many buyers naturally assume this means the length of time it took before their package reached them. Here again, not so. Shipping time is how quickly your seller sent your item, not how long it took to get to you. I usually ship the same or next day. But although the USPS is an excellent system, sometimes things go wrong & packages are misrouted, lost, misplaced, misdelivered & all sorts of things that might affect when your item is delivered. Once I turn something over to the mail system, it's out of my hands. So if a seller shipped your package quickly but the USPS dropped the ball somewhere along the way & delivery was delayed---your seller has still earned 5 stars for shipping time. One star category that seems to be a sore point for many is shipping cost. I've never had a complaint about my shipping charges, but believe that most people who don't routinely ship a lot of things have no idea how expensive it is nowadays. I don't charge a handling fee but I have to buy bubble mailers, pay an internet postage service in order to get your items out faster, make trips of considerable distance to the PO, (and gas isn't cheap, is it?) buy tape, paper & ink to print the shipping labels, bubble wrap, etc. I don't want to gouge anybody, but I do have to at least try to break even. True, there are sellers who charge excessive shipping. If I run across one, I just hit the back button & suggest you do likewise. The whole atmosphere here on eBay about shipping (among other things) seems to have gotten way out of control. Probably a lot of buyers who buy on eBay also buy from other online places and pay whatever the shipping cost might be without blinking an eye. Yet some will hold an eBay sellers feet to the fire if they think they've paid one red cent more than actual postage cost. Why is that, do you suppose? I think it's all part of the Seller vs Buyer atmosphere that has been created during the past year or two, plus buyers being encouraged to have unrealistic & unreasonable expectations of an eBay seller. You know, it shouldn't be Seller vs Buyer. We're all in this together and fostering an environment that pits us against each other is really unpleasant for all concerned. Buying and selling on eBay should be and usually is a mutually good experience for both parties. It's an auction site, not a battleground. Let's all work together to try and put the fun back in eBaying! Please bid and leave feedback responsibly!
