"Don't throw that old piece of junk away, Susie will make something neat out of it!"
That's a quote from a friend of mine who knows that I'm always on the look-out for recyclable, this-n-that objects to create new, one of a kind items like pincushions, make-dos or whatever. A brand new life, what a great thing!
I've been sewing all my life and believe me that's a long time. I owe all my talents in that area to my dear mother who's now with God. She was my 4-H, sewing club leader when I was young and guided slews of young girls to love to sew and be meticulous seamstresses. She was also an avid crafter and living through the great depression years she learned to 'make do' and passed that along to me and my 4 siblings even when there was no further, real need to do so. Thus, "My name is Susie and I'm a junkaholic" evolved.
eBay has become a great outlet for me to share my creations with you and maybe inspire others to create. A lot of my inspiration comes from vintage sewing items that I've collected or that I've seen in books, antique stores and flea markets. My favorite medium right now is hand dyed wool but I also love vintage textiles of all kinds or even an old wool coat that's seen better days. From time to time I will offer some of my own collections and unique finds here on eBay just to make room so I can collect more.
I live simply, with my canine helper and best friend, Eddie, my curious kitty, Betty and my cocky cockatiel, Riley. All 3 of my wonderful pets are rescues and believe me, they pay me back daily with their love and devotion to me. Well, maybe not Riley, he talks back. If you can, you should adopt a pet who needs you. I guarantee you won't be sorry.

Along with sewing and my menagerie, I love to work or I should say play in my gardens. I have a large yard with lot's of big trees and lot's of flowers. My search for 'junque' definitely shows there, also. One of my gardens has a wrought iron bed of hostas and I fill an old, claw foot, bath tub with flowering annuals every spring. An old, enamel, cook stove filled with ferns invites you up my deck steps. I've lived in this home for 35 years and hope to spend the rest of my days right here. Who'd buy it with all that junk in the yard?
I wouldn't have attempted to send an email let alone sell things on eBay if it weren't for my brilliant, computer guru, son, James. He's a grown man now but he's still my 'little guy'. I dragged him through many, many junk stores, flea markets and even our neighbor's trash when he was young and so for his tolerance then and his guidance and enlightenment now, I dedicate this page to him.
Thank you Jamie!
