How I started making dolls

Hi! I have been a doll collector and doll maker and artist for 10 years. I started out just collecting all types of collectible dolls, and started out making cloth dolls at first. I only use the finest materials when creating my babies, I make them slowly and carefully, the way that I would expect any dolls that I might purchase for my personal collection be made. No detail is missed, and I inspect each baby at every step of reborning to make sure that every detail is perfect and as life-like as possible. I stand behind all my work. I then ventured on to making vinyl Ethnic dolls from various kits and then I decided to try reborning. I have fallen in love with the whole art of reborning baby dolls, it is a very rewarding hobby indeed!! I have always been interested in making and sewing things, I started making things when i was 10 years old. It wasn't until I attended my community college that someone told me I had artistic talent and that I needed to pursue it. She was an instructor in one of my creative activities for children class, and she told me that I had artistic talent. I guess sometimes we fail to see talent in ourselves, but I am glad she mentioned it to me, because it gave me the confidence to try new things. I also have a a daytime job, I am a substitute elementary school teacher here in Virginia Beach. I haven't subbed this year hardly at all, I'm devoting my time to reborning babies for the holiday season. I will be back full-time subbing starting in Jan. I will still make my babies, just not as many. I love children, and that is one of the reasons I enjoy my dollmaking so much. I also have three years experience in makeup artistry. I have three grown sons, Jimmy, 33, Stephen 28, and Andrew, 24. I also have a beautiful little Grandaughter named Jamie, my sweet little girl! She got one of my dollies for Christmas this year! I am also the proud Grandma of two twin Baby girls, Alicia and Meghan, they are four years old and adorable!! Hannah is my youngest Grandaugther, she is two years old.
