Why Sock Monkeys?
I wish I could say what brought me here, except simple necessity. I had two children of a friend that I needed a quick gift for and it was right before Christmas and the money was lean to say the very least... there were two new pairs of socks and a box of craft stuff and a away I went! I've found that the sock monkeys do have an entire personality of their own and one never really knows how or who they will turn out ot be in the end. They are so much fun to make that I ran out of friends to send them to ... so here we are online selling! As a member of the EBAY community of buyers/sellers, it has become very important for me to operate with integrity and compassion. My contribution to this community is to provide creative works that are unique and original while maintaining a human scale service in the online world.

About these Sock Monkeys.
These sock monkeys are different than the original Redford Red Heeled Sock Monkeys, as I can not readily purchase those socks here in Canada. So, these monkeys are made from the regular old work socks (the fullsize ones at least) that are available here AND when available varying sizes of children's work sock style socks. There tend to be three sizes, 21", 8" or 6". I use beading to create faces on all my monkeys, therefore I caution my buyers to be sure that they are not going to little children who are still in the "in the mouth" phase. The majority of my monkeys come with a heart or button sewn over their hearts and at the tip of their tales is sewn their name in baby beads. I use new materials unless otherwise noted in my descriptions.

I have accepted commissions in the past and may consider doing them again after discussion with you. They are difficult because I use no patterns and my work is all original. In fact, I have no control over what they turn out like. This can be difficult for me personally because I aim to please regardless of how many times I have to make another doll. So, if you like a very specific doll then I encourage you to bid on the auction. If you are interested in seeing what comes for you... then let's talk!
