I stumbled on reborning by accident looking for a baby doll for my niece. Well, that led me to a whole new world. I bought two reborn babies (very well made) for myself and one for my niece, from sellers on ebay. Jemille and bltarky were my inspirations with their dolls. Both have been helpful sharing information with me when I've asked. I have also purchased a doll from snowflakekisses4u for my niece. Her dolls are geared towards younger children and can be played with. She also has been very helpful sharing information on reborning. All three dolls are beautiful and unique!
After receiving the baby dolls, I had attempted to reborn a few dolls myself. My daughter wanted a boy doll so I made her one for her birthday. The second doll, Rachelle Elizabeth, was adopted this past fall.
I would like to give my twin sister an acknowlegement of thanks also for all of her encouragement and faith in my abilities to reborn. Without her support I would not have advanced in this art of reborning. Thank you twin sister!
In the beginning I had broken several needles and mixed and mixed the oil paints to get just the right color. The first few times I used genesis, it was not a favorable result. It took time and energy to perfect the skin tone. I'm always learning and improving. Fortunately, my twin sister convinced me to join a few reborn forums and from there I have greatly improved my skill. I have enjoyed reborning and will make more. My twin sister and I are listing our twin boys Thomas Joseph and Timothy Jaimes. Reborn twins BY twins! Neither one of us corresponded with the other with the coloring, skin tone, hair color, eye color and so on...we wanted to see how close our reborns would look. We have an uncanny habit of picking out the same things even being miles and miles apart.
Most of my babies have custom made bodies, made just for them by me. I also sew each of the baby girl's outfits. The sweater sets and or crocheted booties are made from fellow reborners from the forums that I belong to.
I try to make my babies as true to a newborns normal weight. I use glass beads for the filling and carefully sealed. The torso is filled with glass beads in a balloon that has been sewn into a sac of heavy duty polyester and then again in fleece. There should be no leakage.
