Saddle making involves understanding
the structure and function of a horses' back. Then you have to apply that
knowledge to make a saddle that will allow the maximum amount of freedom
and range of motion possible while equally distributing the ridersweight
across as large a surface as possible. Crest Ridge Saddlery® specializes
in doing just that, in a saddle that will withstand hard use by an ardent
trail rider. Crest Ridge Saddlery® has been targeting our saddles to
the Gaited Horse market, because they have been historically very hard
to fit. Our expertise is not just in Gaited Horse; it is in HORSES and
MULES.
We have always done saddles
for Stock Horses and Mules as well it is just happens that we have specialized
in Gaited Horses. WHY? Because the need was so great in the Gaited Horse
community for a saddle that FITS. The methods we use to fit a gaited horse
apply to all breeds of horses.
A Horse is a Horse; each
is an individual that has specific needs in their saddle. Different breeds
have different bar angles, builds, and shapes and it is all about studying
the various top lines and a bunch of practice getting it right to be a
great fitter or saddle maker. We have the saddles, we have and do fit Quarter
Horses, Morgans, Arabs, ect.. on a regular basis.
To be a fitter it takes a
good eye, accurate measurements, and while fitting over the phone or internet
it takes a great knowledge of breed body types in order to put it all together
as an exact science. Crest Ridge Saddlery® has been fitting horses
successfully nlinefor over 4 years.
