I know most people click the
"ME"
button because they want to know something
about who they are buying from. I know
that's
why I click on it.
But as I state in my listing this is
where
you will find the details on shipping
and
refunds and the like so this will be
the
theme here but I will devote some to
an "about
me" at the end as well.
Some of the pricing on shipping is not current as the P.O. has increased rates since I posted this.
(Added Dec 13 , 2006 --I will attempt to keep pics to 4 or less on eBay with a link to more on my web site. I have had several on dialup say the page load times are slow with so many pics. I tend to get carried away if I think the item worthy of more pics. If you want to see more pics of an item and if there are more pics you will need to follow the link in the listing or go to www.vintageslips4u.com and look for the item under the appropriate heading. Ebay may edit out the link to my website as they want all sales to go through them but I hope they do not as my intent is to make available additional pics with faster Ebay page load times, not to circumvent eBay on sales. The link will only take you to the pictures of the item you are interested in, not the entire website. If eBay edits out the link I may have to go back to placing more pics in the listing. Sorry dialup users.)
I take the position that you are an adult and can handle being treated like one. So where most would gloss over the fine points, for fear of losing your business, I stress them.
The following is basic info for all listings. UNLESS Otherwise noted in the listing.
BR>
This section is longwinded and you
need
not read it unless you
plan on bidding, then
it would be prudent to do so.
The good news... If you read one, you've
read them all, as all my listings contain
the same
info from here on.
Unless noted otherwise in the listing itself.
If the item is one you truly want, remove
some risk by letting eBay bid for you.
You never know what personal issue
could
come up that may cause you to miss
the
end of an auction.
If you intend to snipe at the very
end, as
many do, bear in mind I have several
pics
and a lot of text and refreshing the page
may take time. I host my own pics and
the
server could be slow.
If a lot of people are refreshing the page
at the same time it may take longer.
You may not be able to place your bid at
the last second if you do not have
the timing
right.
More after the Payment and Shipping section.
Your bidding strategy is
totally up to you.
OK, My auctions pages are not like what some
refer to as 'Clean Auctions'.
'CLEAN' Meaning they have a couple
pics and
a few words and nothing else to clutter
the
listing.
People like 'Clean' listings because
they
do not want to read much.
They want a couple pics and
a straight forward "Send me the money and
I'll send you the item."
Hey same here...ALMOST.
I call them 'Buyer Beware' Auctions,
because
you really don't have a clue as to
where
you stand.
I include everything but the kitchen
sink
which is as much for your benefit as
mine.
No, it ain't pretty, but at least you know
where you stand. I put in more pics
and better
descriptions
So YOU ARE INFORMED not because I like to
spend hours taking, transferring, resizing,
uploading pics and writing descriptions.
Remember You buy based on Pics
and descriptions so you might as well get
your money's worth.
Just bear in mind that everything is
the same on all my auctions (unless
noted
in the listing) and
if you read this once you never have
to read
it again.
Payment and Shipping.
We almost always use 1st class w/ confirmation
(under 10 ounces) or USPS Priority w/confirmation.
On occasion we might ship
Parcel Post... "on occasion". Buyer requests
are always considered but most items
are
packaged prior to
the end of auction and so are shipped as
packaged.
We may use another
shipping method depending
on size, weight,
value, safety of item, or other considerations,
at our discretion.
Though we may combine shipping at our discretion, Do NOT rely on it as part of your bidding strategy, as we may not pass savings along.
We consider combined shipping on an individual item basis and what we look at is:
Is the item already packed and if so how much bother will it be to repack it.
Will it be necessary for us to construct a box or do we have one of sufficient size on hand.
Basically will it cost us money, time or labor and is the savings worth the effort.
In order for us to consider combined shipping the items must be easily combined or we need to be compensated for our efforts and still realize a significant savings to you. If you have combined shipping in mind it would be prudent for you to contact us to validate the ability to do so on the items you intend to bid on.
We RARELY make anything on shipping and if we do we consider it a long overdue bonus to help make
up for all the times we lost money on shipping. We generally make a bit on items under a pound and break even or lose on items over a pound depending on packaging. Just being honest, do not mean to offend anyone's sensibilities.
We do pass on charges for Confirmation 60
cents 1st Class; 50 cents Priority
and a
small
handling fee. USUALLY $1.00 or less! ,
all "included"
in
the shipping rates quoted or calculated,
just enough to cover costs in most
cases.
If you haven't priced bubble wrap envelopes
or Tyvek envelopes or just bubble wrap,
'peanuts',
plastic bags, tape, etc. then
you need to in order to understand that without
a handling charge we lose money. Unlike
many
others we
do not intentionally gouge on shipping;
Just try to cover costs for shipping materials:
Bubble wrap, paper, tape, ink, plastic bags,
time packing and gas driving to the
USPS
office
and we figure on more than one package per
trip, as it costs $2.00 in gas alone
for
each trip. So most
often we come out a bit short on handling.
If your item ships in a letter envelope
with
no packing
you will likely feel ripped off. Keep in
mind a Tyvek envelope costs 50 cents
and
confirmation is 50-60 cents. There's
your
$1.00 right there, before we even consider packing, time, gas etc...
And yes sometimes, on light weight items shipped 1st class in a tyvek envelope, there might be enough to help defray ebay and paypal fees, though this is seldom the case.
Many buyers are unhappy with postal costs and when a seller charges $30.00 to ship what cost them $3.00 I can see why.
Sellers do this for many reasons the main being eBay charges listing and Final Value fees based on the price of the item, not the shipping, so their insertion fees are lower as well as their final value fees but an unaware person may bid an item thinking the $0.99 is a great buy but then when you tack on the shipping it is not so great. Remember to always figure shipping into your bid and also remember if you purchase insurance only the purchase price is insured not the shipping so if you need to collect on insurance or in some cases a refund all you get back is the purchase price. So when you buy from a seller that charges $0.99 for the item and $30.00 shipping all you can insure is the $0.99 ( The purchase Price) You lose the shipping.
We do not intend to profit from shipping though at times we do, it often is less than a dollar, ll things considered and even more often we lose money on shipping ll things considered Some buyers get hostile thinking a seller might have made even a dime off them in shipping, This borders on the insane, it is definitely ridiculous. There are costs to a seller like listing fees, picture fees, final value fees, Paypal fees, Paypal printing fees for labels other than Priority, Currency conversion fees, Paypal refund fees, all in addition to the packing fees and gas and time in line and if you have a problem with my possibly making a dime on your purchase over what you bid then DON'T BID!
Just figure shipping into your bid amount,
or do not bid.
We usually eat it on shipping or just break
even, seldom do we make anything on shipping.
Our FLAT rate on shipping is only $1.00 or less over the cheapest priority incase we decide to send the item that way. (Domestic
only) up to 10 ounces and able to ship 1st Class mail. Over
that we use the calculator. It is usually set
at weight + $1.00, which seldom covers costs.
International
bidders will need to contact me for rates
if there is not a flat rate posted. I will try to get back to you in
time to bid but cannot guarantee that I will.
International calculator can be off as much
as $2.00 or more as the handling charge is set for
Domestic NOT International. And the addition
of customs forms and additional wrapping
can send the weight to the next level. Depending on what the next level is this could translate to quite a bit more cost in shipping.
The Auto-Generated Invoices no longer allow
you to make changes. You will need
to wait
for my invoice if any
changes need be made
and all International buyers purchasing on
calculated rates, need to wait for
a new
invoice,
as you can no longer add the
additional handling charges yourselves.
One bad apple who decided to take it
upon
themselves to change the invoice in
their
favor,
by including a substantial seller's discount,
I never authorized, has
now made everyone have to either rely on
the integrity of the auto-generated
invoice
or wait for a new invoice
reflecting any changes we have discussed.
I have discontinued allowing buyers
to edit
checkout invoices. Sure I could withhold the item till the
balance was paid but why should I have to even bother with a dishonest person?
I'd say 95% of eBayers are the best customers anyone could hope for. 4.5 % need to be coddled in one way or another but the deal gets done to everyones satisfaction. It's the 0.5% trying to work it to their favor by cheating and lying and preying on both sellers and buyers that make eBay a place to watch your step.
All International buyers must wait
for a
new invoice
that will reflect the true handling charges.
DO NOT PAY ON THE AUTO-GENERATED ONE.
Unless
the postage
is flat rate posted. Any "calculated" rates
are not accurate as the handling fee
is based
on $1.00 domestic.
Please understand USPS provides domestic Priority boxes and when an item is large enough we use them and weight is derived from packing in them. If the item ends up going International we have to find another box (sometimes heavier or larger or both) and repack the item. The weight may be more, the handling is more, more packing may have to be used. The difference could be considerable.
If you pay on the auto-generated invoice with domestic handling fees and the item costs us considerably more we will NOT ship the item unless you pay the difference . So best if you wait for another invoice from me with the correct charges or contact me before bidding.
Posted flat rate International is accurate
and you may pay on an auto-generated
invoice.
!Posted flat rate only!
Payment can be made through
Certified Cashiers Check,
Money Order,(Postal Money Order Preferred, you can buy at the time of mailing)
or PayPal. Cash at your own risk.( Surprisingly
many do send cash and perhaps because
we
only receive
mail at a USPS P.O. Box it is fairly secure,
but it is still your risk. Not all
postal
workers are honest. And regretfully we have had lost (stolen) cash payments.
If you send cash hide it in some folded
paper or card stock with writing on it so you can't
see
the money.)
We do NOT accept wire transfers that require
us to go collect our money nor any
type of
payment that requires our bank account
#.
We will accept a personal check but,
BE AWARE,
there will be a MANDATORY 14 (FOURTEEN)
DAY
WAITING PERIOD for any check to clear. NO
Exceptions. This includes Cashiers Checks and Money Orders. A Bad check is a Non-Paying
bidder
and a
Negative Feedback.
I will ship International on most items.
Domestic Buyer's can skip over this section.
Bear in mind that International shipping
is high priced and
I will only accept PayPal or cash in U.S. currency on International
shipments. If sending cash be aware of the risks and the risk is on you. I will not ship till paid; also send payment airmail as I will not wait 2 months for payment to arrive.
I will only ship to countries that
are Paypal
approved and can receive USPS GLOBAL
PRIORITY or
USPS AIR LETTER POST or USPS AIR PARCEL
POST or USPS Global Express Mail, even
if another
method of
shipment is chosen,
based on weight, size or insurance needs.
Global Priority mail does not allow for insurance
and is not available in all Countries.
Air Letter Post also does not allow
for insurance
but is available to more countries.
If you want insurance you need to choose
a method of shipment that allows for
insurance
such as
Air Parcel Post or indemnity protection such
as Global Express mail with registered
mailing.
Insurance for International shipments are
higher than Domestic so you need to
get the
rates from:
http://www.usps.com/global/intlspecialservices.htm#H3
(Air Parcel Rates)
WE will not ship Ground on International
as it takes too long. Insurance is NOT available to all countries. Italy and Greece are prime examples.
AIR Parcel or Air Letter or
Global Priority or Global Express Mail only.
I will "TRY" to charge USPS Postal
Rates
plus $2.00 or less handling fee on International
shipments on most shipments.
Use the flat rates quoted (correct) or calculated
rate plus $2.00.
$2.00 may seem a bit much but:
Most International shipments have to
be repacked especially if the item is already in a domestic priority box. But there may be other considerations like weight or size. Global priority and Air letter Post have weight (not over 4 pounds) and size, see ( www.usps.com ) restrictions.
It costs me $2.00 in gas to go to the
Post
office and International Shipments
'usually'
are a separate trip.
I cannot print shipping labels on my
computer
for most International shipments,
and those that will let me require information
I do not have.
Such as phone numbers. Even then, I go through
the process and am denied in the end,
so we just take International to the P.O.
all the time now.
This requires me to stand in line to get
postage.
I have to fill out a customs form sometimes
2, which sometimes requires that I
get out
of line to fill out
the customs forms and then back in line to
Post the item. The P.O. no longer allows me to just say lothingon a label they want me to say what the item is. I fudge a bit like saying antsor hirtinstead of antiesor eddieso to insure your privacy. So far this has not caused any problems.
PayPal charges extra on International
payments
for currency conversion and we only accept Paypal or U.S. cash on International sales.
Taken together, I think $2.00
Handling charge more than fair for
International
shipping.
Considering I may make nothing and
most likely lose money for an hour
or more of my time and
effort.
If you do not think it reasonable, then do
not bid.
Remember Global Priority offers NO
insurance
and must be under 4 pounds and only
selected Countries will accept Global Priority.
No insurance possible.
The cheapest rate is AIR LETTER POST
but
there is also no insurance possible.
There are severe weight and size limitations.
If you require insurance, another method
of shipment (AIR PARCEL POST)
must be requested and the cost will be considerably
more. Also the insurance charges must
be
added. Some countries do not offer insurance.
Base your bids on the quoted rates plus
handling as described unless you choose
to
add
insurance or want a faster delivery method.
Then either contact me for quotes or look
them up yourself at www.USPS.com
Our quoted flat rates are generally the lowest
Air Rate available without insurance
plus
$2.00 handling and the minimum we charge
on International shipments, no matter
the
postage, is $7.50 US currency. This
is the
minimum see the rates quoted or calculated
for actual shipping costs.
Recently (June 2006) I had a French buyer that was irate at my international charge for flat rate saying he had bought 2 panties from diferent sellers and got them priority at $4.00 from each seller. How could I justify $7.50 and I should either charge less on shipping or lower the price of the item he wanted. A vintage Panty listed at $9.99.
Now that was a lie as the cheapest priority to France is a small flat rate envelope at $5.25 without any added fees. So I doubt he got priority and if he did he paid more than he said. Next, as to lowering the price on the panty. Well it was a true vintage pinup pantie that I had listed on my web site for $55.00 I'd already come down to a starting bid of $10.00. What more does he want? My first born? The panties eventually sold to a reseller in Texas (some vintage boutique) for $33.00. Where they are most likely marked at over $100.00 and will most likely sell for that too. Don't get me wrong I realize eBay is just a huge garage sale where everything is sold for far less than it is worth, but I am not going to just give it away for free. If he doesn't think my prices are fair he can shop elsewhere and he now does as I have blocked him from my auctions. I mean get real, he knew as well as I did that these panties were worth a hundred dollars and he is giving me a bad time over a $2.00 handling fee????? Get real. The vintage boutique in Texas will make a tidy profit and more power to them. They saw the value in these pinup panties and picked them up for a song at $33.00 plus shipping. I made a few dollars as most items I list at cost or thereabouts hoping the bidding will show a profit. And the guy in France??? Well you figure it out.
Any Customs, Duties, or related fees
are
on you the buyer.
If 'YOU' wish to choose another method
of
shipment based on delivery speed or
insurance
needs
then DO NOT CHECK OUT! Contact me for an
adjusted rate and new invoice to reflect
the change you want.
We reserve the right to deny any requests
and ship as we feel appropriate. Though
we
try to honor
any requests, sometimes it is not practical.
(For example: Say we have packed a
glass
vase of considerable size in a very
large
box with a
LOT of bubble wrap and tape and such expecting
to ship it Domestic Parcel Post or
International
AIR
Parcel Post and you decide you want Global
Priority for faster delivery but are
not
willing to pay
for Express mail. The box may be too large
to qualify, the weight may be too high,
or
the effort
of repacking is just not worth it.
Each Country and sometimes each County
or
postal zone within a Country has a
different
rate,
so the USPS calculated rates are not always
accurate, but I will say they get it
right most of the time. There are times however
when we underestimate the costs.
Though if we do, we will abide by our quoted
rate and ship at the price quoted. "Flat Rates Only"
Though if it goes the other way we will most
likely not refund the difference unless
it is considerable.
If you want the item shipped in a manner
of 'YOUR' choice and desire the exact
amount
of shipping and insurance prior to bidding.
You need to contact me 72 hours prior to
auction close or by 9.00 AM Friday
morning ( or any day prior to a holiday)
my time (Pacific Time U.S.A.) to get
exact
quote.
I will need your Country, County, Address
with zip or postal zone code, and in
some
cases a phone number,
just as it appears on your PayPal account.
I will not run to the P.O. on Saturday
as I have activities with my kids, besides
our P.O. has no attendant on duty on
Saturday
just open for a short time for access
to
P.O. boxes and it
is closed Sunday. Also I may have other
obligations
on Friday,
so the sooner you ask the better the chance
I will find time to get to the Post
Office
to get an answer.
If you cannot contact me use the rate
charts
at www.USPS.com and add $2.00.
(Refer to shipping methods we allow above)
For standard international shipping:
The postage rate calculator is set
up for
Domestic shipping, it does not allow
you to reset it to International S&H
so
You need to add $2.00
to any rate that shows on the International
calculated rates.
If the rate is shown as a flat rate then
that is the rate you should use. Only
calculated
rates are off.
If you bid and win without contacting
me
(for any reason) for exact rates, you
agree
to pay USPS rates plus $2.00
Handling, no matter what those rates may
be, or a non-paying bidder will be
filed
and
negative feedback left.
If you pay an automated invoice and
do not
add the extra handling
you will be asked
to remit the
difference or a non-paying bidder will be
filed and negative feedback
left. I always
send my own invoice,
even on Domestic, though many pay on the
auto-generated one.
Just remember $2.00 handling on International
and everything should be
fine.
You cannot adjust the invoice so you need to wait for a new one.
I've had a few Canadians pay on the auto-generated one and shipped the item anyway cause the rate to Canada is not that much more than U.S. But I will no longer do this either, as it is unfair to other International bidders. Canada is an International shipment and even though the rate is lower than Europe or Australia I will no longer accept payments that do not include my International handling charges as I still have to find and use a different box than domestic priority.
Some items the handling charge will
be greater
due to the need for different packaging.
Also we will NOT lie on Customs forms, as to value or item though we may fudge the item a bit for your privacy we will not go so far off topic as to be criminal. Like saying they are pants when it is a valuable collectable figurine. So do not bother asking.
We take no responsibility for loss or damage in shipment so if this is a concern we suggest Air parcel post with insurance.
Remember to figure shipping into your
bid!
If you do not agree with these terms do not
bid.
Domestic Buyer's start here again.
Winning Bidder must complete eBay checkout
within
72 hours
(3)
three days
of close of auction and/or email and inform
me of payment method, Ship To: address,
and any special instructions;
INCLUDE YOUR RETURN EMAIL
ADDRESS as eBay does not allow enough characters
to fully detail instructions.
PLEASE contact me within 3 days and PLEASE
include your email
address so we can communicate without limitation.
I can get it through eBays send invoice page but it is
just
easier to include it. (This is just common courtesy and lets me know payment is on the way. Besides if you intend to send payment it will take up to a week to arrive.)
Also Payment
must
be received within
(7)
SEVEN days
or the item will
be re-listed and a non
paying bidder complaint
filed as well as negative feedback left.
I send out reminders and past dues but if
I receive no response I do the non-paying
bidder without hesitation. Just being
honest.
Can't handle it? Don't Bid!
Simply put;
Do not bid if you do not intend to follow
through.
Most often it is a Newbie
who made an honest
mistake or a seasoned vet
with good reason,
like the Lady that bid on the Wedding Dolls
only to find the Wedding
called off. But
some are just
caught up in the bidding, then have buyers
remorse because they think they overpaid.
Or failed to figure
shipping into their bid like the person
from Italy that bid and won an $8.00
glass
creamer and plate but found shipping to be
$21.50 Air Letter Post with no insurance.
They were very unhappy but is
it my fault they did not read the listing,
or contact me, or figure shipping into
their
bid?
As a bidder you can do
a bid retraction before
close of
Auction by going to the 'Site Map', 'Buying
Resources', 'Bid retractions'.
Do NOT check the box that you "Could
not
contact Seller" unless it is true.
Because I will turn you in to eBay for abusing
the system if you blame me when it
is not
true. ( Best to mark another reason )
If the auction closes and
you want out, it
better be for good reason!
DO NOT PAY, contact me!!!
We can do a mutual withdrawal
and though
I get my final value fees
back I lose my
listing fees.
If you pay using Paypal I am out Paypal
fees as well.
There are still outs but why should I pay
for your mistakes? I don't throw money away graciously so it had better be one hell of an excuse or you had better be prepared to pay my fees.
Best to be honest if want me to even think
of rolling over.
The "Oh, I didn't mean to bid." Ain't gonna
cut it, cause you had to
enter the bid twice.
Once to bid,
once to confirm. You may think it a mistake
after the fact but, it
wasn't a mistake when
you did it.
I have a pretty good feedback rating on both my sites tamicraft and tamidesign and I believe it is due to the fact that I lay it all out there. No misinterpretations. I am an honest seller and all I ask is an honest buyer who stays in touch. I'll bend over backwards to make you a satisfied customer but I will not be taken advantage of, nor impune my honesty to placate a dishonest or disgruntled buyer who will not read nor follow instructions. I'd rather take the neg.
An automated invoice with instructions on
payment options will
be generated by PayPal and/or eBay.
If you want to checkout right away you can.
If we have discussed any deviations from
the norm, I will send a personal confirmation
email
and invoice to the Winning
Bidder. Unless I see that payment has already been made I will send my own invoice through eBay so you may wind up with two invoices for the same item. If they are different, pay on the one I sent.
Another confirmation upon receipt
of payment so you know
I got the check or other payment.
I will leave feedback when you have done so. All Payment methods require the
funds be verified as transferred
to our account
before we ship the item. We may receive
your payment but it may take
2 weeks or more for it to clear the bank.
So PLEASE be patient if paying with Money
Order or Cashiers Check or any method other than cash or Paypal or Bidpay.
I will send notification of shipment
when
I've sent the item. Usually
next business
day
after payment transfer verification.
We do not hold a bidder hostage to positive
feedback but I do not leave
feedback till I receive feedback. I have grown weary of leaving feedback to everyone and receiving feedback for only about 1 in 4 sales.
My responsibility for the item ends at the
Post Office.
If there is a problem I would like the opportunity
to make things right
before you leave a negative
feedback.
Contact me for shipping costs if they are
not posted in the listing
or there is no
calculator.
If you do not receive an invoice within
48
hours check your bulk mail folder as it
may have been filtered out.
If you do not have an invoice within 48
hours contact me to send one as your
item may have been overlooked.
Alaska and Hawaii may incur additional
charges
on oversized packages.
Insurance is optional but strongly advised.
We accept no responsibility
for damage
or loss due to any method of shipment. Please
be sure to insure your
item for the full
value.
Insurance does not cover Shipping and Handling.
You, the buyer, need to
verify you have
included the proper amount for insurance.
This added
charge is the buyers responsibility.
Also note that items over $250.00
will require signature confirmation to qualify
for Paypal's Buyer
Protection Program and any added charges
would be the buyers responsibility.
Our quoted rate for S&H includes only
simple
USPS confirmation on purchases of $249.99
or less.
Signature Confirmation $250.00 and
up
or Registered Mail $5000.00 and up will be
extra, so do not checkout
till you have confirmed what the additional
charges will be on purchases equal
to or
greater than $250.00.
Send me an email and I will send an invoice
reflecting the additional charges.
See insurance rate chart
at
http://www.usps.com/send/waystosendmail/extraservices/
optionalserviceandfeaturefees.htm#InsuredMail
Regarding Insurance
(Just use some
common sense. Why pay $1.35 to insure
a $4.00
item when you can't get the $6.05 shipping
back anyway? You are going to wind
up getting
$4.00 back after having paid $11.40. (And if you think about it you paid an extra $1.35 for the item, so in reality you really are only getting $2.65 back. Is It worth it?)
Of course
it is always
your decision. Il purchase the insurance if you send the money no matter the cost of the item.
You must have a valid USPS address and make
yourself or someone you
trust available if
signature confirmation is required. If you
use a
P.O. Box it is your responsibility to ensure
they
will accept shipments. Returned
items for failure to have
a valid address
or sign for your item or any other reason,
will require you pay
additional shipping to
return the item to
you,
or forfeit the item.
No Refund.
Payment
for additional shipping
must be made within
(7)
seven days, or you forfeit the item and
there is no refund.
Also bear in mind that
if you have the option and choose Parcel
Post or other ground delivery for shipment,
it can take up to two weeks for delivery.
We do not recommend Parcel Post on
Fragile
items as there is more handling and more
chance for breakage. So, in some rare
cases
waiting
for payment clearance and slow shipping,
it can take up to 30 days to receive
your
item.
This is why we recommend you pay using
PayPal (cash at your own risk) and we ship 1st Class or
Priority
whenever possible.
If you read the negative feedback for
most
items from other Sellers,
the most common complaint is that it took
too long to arrive or slow shipment.
YOU choose the payment method and we
try
to use First Class or Priority whenever
possible and go to the Post Office whenever necessary. No special mailing dates.
PLEASE do not blame us if you choose
a slow
shipping option and a slow payment
verification
method.
We ship on confirmation from PayPal
usually within 24 hours.
but bear in mind that PayPal eCheck will
take a week to clear.
Fraudulent checks and credit card reverses
will be treated the same
as non-paying bidder,
in addition the proper authorities will
be notified.
We do not ship to any address other than

(2 emails) There will be no Paypal guarantee and if you do not purchase insurance do not complain if there is a problem.
I had a lady request I send to a different address than that on file and when I asked her to confirm by email she got all upset with me. I did not care who got the item, I was paid, I was protecting 'HER' interests by asking for confirmation through eBay messages and personal email. Still she almost took my head off. Please do not be so quick to get upset, as it is "YOUR" interests I am trying to protect.
To paraphrase she said: I paid for the f**king item and you will send the f**king thing anywhere I want you to, or by God Il kick your f**king ass and make sure you are known as the worst seller on ebay. After that little note I was about to send her money back and keep the item and place her on my blocked buyers list. But instead I did send the item to where she wanted and then placed her on my blocked buyers list so I no longer have to deal with her. I ask you is it fair to subject me to this when it is her interests I am trying to protect. I had my money, It could have gone to Timbuktu as far as I cared. But No, I did care, and that is why I ask for verification if sending to a different address that that on record. Instead of the verbal abuse all she had to do was confirm the new ship to address in her email and through eBay messages. Would that have been so difficult? No, she had to be a bitch, well I can be one too.

Refund policy:
We try to give you good information and good pictures so you can make a truly informed decision. All items that have moveable parts or electronics are tested or a disclaimer that we were unable to test will be posted. It will cost you in shipping and fees but in some cases this may be preferable compared to whatever you paid for the item.
We do not refund on returned items for any reason including bad ship to: addresses. This would be for failure to sign for an item or a bad address (you move, forget to update with ebay or Paypal and the new resident returns it or worse keeps the item or you transposed the address and the P.O. returns it...etc.
NEW products may be covered under a manufacturers warranty for defective product. See listing for details.

We also sell through our website and any item that has yet to receive a bid may be pulled from auction if it was sold through our website; However if a bid has been placed on the item then the website customer will be directed to the auction Unless the website customer has offered full price then the sale will be made off the website and the listing pulled from ebay.
Timing is key and if the website customer was first in placing the order then even an item with a bid on it may be canceled. We look at the time stamps on the bids and emails we receive to decide which was first. Also if the website customer offers full retail and not a best offer then the website customer will get the item and it will be pulled from ebay even if there has been a bid placed. If the wesite customers offer is not full price they will be directed to the auction on EBay. This is as fair as we can be to all concerned.
Best of luck.

OK, So now that the business end is done
here is a bit about
"ME"
I am in my mid 40's, Married with 2 children, one 10 the other 13, as of this writing.
Like most people we live paycheck to paycheck and my hope was to earn an extra income from EBay.
So far that has not been very productive.
I love and enjoy my Family but my passion is Crafts.
I do most everything. Quilting, Sewing,
Woodworking, Ceramics, Painting, Leather craft, Beading, Crochet, Knitting, Needlework of all kinds,
Tole painting, and the list goes on.
I am always looking for new things to try and right now I am really getting into machine embroidery. I make most all my Christmas gifts and even
other gifts for B-days and such. At one time I thought of selling my Crafts but I'd never
recover the cost in time and materials, so I do it for enjoyment only. That's not to say
that I may not someday list something I've made, just that as of now, it is not my intention.
I spend what free time I have indulging myself in my Crafts.
Though free time is a premium when you have 2 kids that are involved
in all sorts of activities, and you volunteer at your kids school a day or
more a week and you are a den leader for Cub Scouts. I used to have a
Girl Scout troop as well but my daughter decided she'd rather do other
things, so I gave that up. The time was quickly filled with other activities.
There never seems to be enough hours in the day. You know what I mean? ( My son has graduated to Boy Scouts and I am no longer a den leader though still involved.)
EBay was supposed to be a part time activity that would bring in a bit extra
cash so we could enjoy a better standard of living. So far it has occupied
most of my husbands free time, and mine, with little to show for it.
The lawn hasn't been mowed, the garden hasn't been tilled, the fruit
trees haven't been sprayed, the car hasn't been washed, the house hasn't been cleaned as well as
I'd like, the list of things that are not getting done is growing daily.
It seems EBay is occupying much more time than was intended with very little to show for it. So as of this update we have scaled back on ebay and have ramped up our Craft Fairs and embroidery sales.
I have to admit that most of the burden is falling on my husband, as I
know very little when it comes to HTML. He on the other hand has built several
web sites and I've had to reign him in so he doesn't get carried away and make
the page more interesting than the listing. I take the pictures and, with
his input, write the descriptions, but he does everything else. Resizing
the Pic's, uploading them to our web space, linking them to the listings
and designing the web pages. (with my oversight) He takes care of the regular email
from Paypal and EBay and the Website, does most all the paperwork
and prints the postage;
and even helps make boxes when I don't have one the right size. For my part I
take the pictures and write most of the descriptions and package and send the
items, and answer the occasional personal email or those asking questions of an item. But of course I take full credit
as my name appears first on the business license
that my husband got me :>) Though as time goes by I am doing more as I learn how from my Hubby.
Unless I come across some way to make EBay the 'part time' occupation
it was supposed to be I think it will soon fall into the "been there
done that" category. I'm not quite ready to give up, but if things keep
going as they are, then I may continue to list, but it will be very spotty at best.
I just can't devote so much time that it interferes with my role as mother and wife.
Also I can see that my husband is starting to wonder if it is all worth it.
My take on bidding For what it's worth.
Bid the minimum early. Do not worry if you are out bid you just want the opportunity to get it at the lowest price if no one else bids and to see if there is any competition though MANY wait to snipe at the end. Many will not bid if someone already has, they run scared that they have competition. Many more wait to snipe at the last moment hoping to steal it away from you so be prepared to snipe as well. This is tricky because those of us on high speed broadband have an advantage. We can refresh the page much faster and our bid can be sent in the last second or two of the auction. But even dialup can get in on it if you play it right.
If you intend to snipe at the very end, as many do, bear in mind I have several pics and a lot of text, And I host my own pics so they have to come off a different server, not eBay. So refreshing the page may take time.
If a lot of people are refreshing the page at the same time it may take longer. I do not have dialup, so cannot say how long it will take to refresh the page if my server is getting slammed.
(FYI. Hubby say's that when you hit the refresh button the query goes to the server and the pics come from there instead of off your temporary internet files as they would if you just hit the back button. I do not know about this stuff but he say's a refresh is like looking for an updated version and that means everything; bids, time left, text, and pics. if a lot are refreshing quite often it will slow the server causing more of a delay. So he say's???)
Anyway,
You may not be able to place your highest bid at the last second, if you do not have the timing right.
I've had as many as 117+ watchers on a single item and most everyone bid at the end.
I've gotten a few emails that say they bid higher than eBay registered the item closed at. I can do nothing about that, as a late bid will not be entered by eBay and I am obligated to sell to the highest bidder eBay records.
So if you snipe make sure your timing is precise.
You always place the highest bid you feel comfortable with when you snipe because you will not get another chance, but never bid more or you will wind up kicking yourself. Never forget to figure shipping into that bid.
If you don't win do not say, "OH if I'd just gone another 50 cents". The thing is you have no idea what the other bidder has placed as their highest bid. It may appear that for just another 50 cents it could have been yours but you don know if the other bidder placed a high bid $20.00 over yours. You just bid the highest you are willing to pay and feel good about it. If you don't win, don't feel bad. You gave it your best shot. Also ALWAYS figure shipping into that bid amount as some will list at 99 cents but charge $30.00 shipping and others will charge $9.99 for the item but just $6.00 shipping. Also remember insurance only covers the purchase price so if you get the item for $2.00 that is the most USPS will reimburse even if the shipping was $30.00.
Some sellers will probably be upset I told you this.
But I do not want to have to go through a bid retraction or mutual withdrawal because a bidder got caught up in the moment and bid higher than they wanted and doesn't want to follow through as a result.
Pay no mind to the hit counter. I've had hundreds of hits on an item and no bids or no watchers with just one bid, and I've had just a handful of hits and most become watchers and most bid in the end.
The hit counter is a seller tool to let us know if we have worded our title right to get the most traffic. That traffic does not always correlate to bidders.
I've also had items with a dozen watchers and sometimes no bids at all. Sometimes people place things in their watch list only to see what it sells for as they have a similar item they want to list. In my current auction (as I write this excerpt) I have an item with 9 watchers and no bids with less than 24 hours left. Whoever places the highest bid in that last second will win. Yet I know everyone thinking that they are the only ones interested and they will bid low in the end and get it cheap. Someone will, but any one person only has a one in nine chance right now and I'm picking up watchers all the time. I'll pick up more as the item nears the close. I always do cause many search items ending soonest cause they do not want to wait days, they want instant satisfaction. I have another item that has 1 bid, but 7 watchers waiting for that inevitable snipe. It is interesting to see how people play the game. But however you play it make sure you leave room for that last second snipe, or if you bid early place a high enough bid with ebay so you won't have to worry about it.
Personally I bid low in the beginning to scare off the weak and snipe high (or as high as I willing to go) in the last to nail the item.
Now this is the way I bid, I am not saying it is the right way or the best way and certainly not the only way. It does, however, seem to be the most popular way, judging from what I see in my auctions.
I know some who bid high early to dissuade others, as everytime a new bidder feels the waters with another bid the current or first bidder is still on top, people figure this person is serious and so they move on. This works too but be prepared to snipe anyway as some will wait it out till the end. I know many who only bid in the last seconds of the Auction. This works if you are prepared to go high enough or you have no competition who will be bidding higher than you. I know others who duel it out all through the Auction (My Hubby for one. He bids till he's driven off the competion then still has a bit in reserve to snipe in the end. He wins more often than not, but I think he pays more. But he says it's like going to Vegas, he likes the excitement of bidding as much as winning. And he still sets a limit to how high he will go.) I know some who place their highest bid with eBay and walk away letting eBay do the bidding. There are good and bad points to every strategy. The bad to mine is I have to have the timing just right and I have to bid my highest at the last and hope no one out bids me. Ie lost more than my share of Auctions because unlike other styles mine is an all or nothing and many times it is nothing. Sometimes I feel "If I'd just bid more earlier the competition might have faded away" or " If I'd bid higher in time to make a second bid at least I'd know where I stand and maybe I could have stepped up and got it." But my style ensures I won't have buyers remorse that I overpaid, and if I lose, which I do more often than not... well like anything else you pick yourself up, dust off and move on. Life is to short to worry over the small stuff. Of course if the item is a one of a kind and you really want it... I make that snipe a biggy, to ensure I get it. This doesn't happen often as really there is a lot that is listed and a one of a kind is seldom and far between. But there are exceptions.
As a Seller I see that most wait to snipe. Many of my listings have watchers till the last. I also see that the watchers drop like flys doused in bug repellent as an item is bid up. I've had as many as 20 watchers whittled to 2 by auction close, so maybe my style isn't the best. But everyone must choose for themselves what works for them. Just remember to always include shipping and insurance if you want it and never bid more than you are willing to pay cause you will regret it later.
added dec 13, 2006 -- I recently sold a model T firetruck for a relative. We had over 4500 hits and 117 watchers and like 17 bids. The bidding ended a day or more before the auction closed as no one else steped up to the plate. The buyer was Ecstatic they got the truck so cheap and we were happy as it sold for $650.00 over our reserve. During the auction I got 3 emails asking if I would sell it outright but they made no offer only asked what I wanted. Obviously the reserve was what we would settle for and once that was met it was up to them to make an offer or bid. After the auction closed I got an email asking if I was going to list it again as they were out of town and did not get a chance to bid. Well it was sold so no It won't be listed again and if you really wanted to bid you should have placed a bid with eBay and let them bid for you if you were going to be out of town. I got another email saying they tried to place a bid but ebay closed the auction on them before accepting the bid. Well I had 34 pics plus a long discription and if you were on dialup it probably took a couple minutes for the page to load and if you were going to snipe at the end you needed to figure the load time on a refresh as with 117 watchers they most likely were all hitting the refresh to see what the item closed at. I host my pics on my website and if the server gets slammed it slows down. I have since decided to have only 4 pics on ebay for faster load times for dial up users and a link to more pics if there are any in the listing. So long as ebay doesn't pull the listing because of the linked pics..
Anyway what I'm getting at is Ebay will only accept the last bid entered at the close of the auction and if you snipe make sure your timing is right. 2nd If you are going out of town or there is a possibility you won't be available to snipe place a bid with ebay. Ebay bids in increments depending on price up to your max amount. If you place a bid of $10,000.00 on an item and the next closest bid is $200.00 you will buy the item at $205.00 not the $10,000.00 you bid. The guy that tried to snipe said his bid was several hundred over what it sold for. Well you should have placed it sooner or got the timing better on the snipe. Bidding on ebay can be an art form or a simple place your highest bid early and hope no one out bids you. Your choice but I have no control, so please do not complain to me if your bid did not win.
Rants and Raves Skip if you are not interested.
We pay our bills but there is little
to nothing left over, hence my attempt to make a few extra dollars on EBay.
EBay was supposed to fill the void. But we see ourselves putting in 8 to 10 hour
days and so far we have managed about a dollar an hour for our efforts.
The fees are a killer.
EBay Listing fees
EBay Gallery Pic
EBay Final value
Paypal 30 cents + 3% and an additional about 1.5% on International payments for fund conversion.
(made the mistake of accepting credit cards now they charge for everything)
S&H the bubble wrap, (not cheap). The paper and ink for the printer, and plastic bags, the tape, eanutsand other things.
The mannequins we bought. The new Digital camera for better closeups.
By the time you add this all up and then add shipping a person might as well go to Walmart.
The only way to make any profit is to sell what you already have or find the widget
that is going to make up in volume what it lacks in price. We have yet to discover
this elusive product.
Everything we can get wholesale, by the time you add shipping,
you can purchase cheaper, retail at a local store.
We made a whole 27 cents on one sale and after the bubble wrap, tape and making
of a box we lost money and that doesn't even include our time.
So far we are cleaning out the stuff we no longer want, or stuff given to us by relatives.
We have tried and dropped the idea of selling new Retail items we can get wholesale,
as our wholesale price plus shipping puts us to within a couple dollars of retail.
After fees we lose money or barely break even and just a few "Item Did Not Sell's"
and we can never recover our cost.
But we haven't given up yet. There are still a few ideas on the back burner and maybe one will pan out. (Tamidesign, our clothing sales site here on ebay, is one of those ideas and our website another) As of this update we have not sold on ebay all year. We have done some craft fairs and sold a few custom embroidery items. I still have lots to ebay but do not have the time. The web sites are up but they are not making money so they will die when renewal comes around. Ebay has turned out to be more time, effort and trouble than it is worth. I still intend to get rid of a lot on ebay but it is no longer a priority.
On a more personal note
As for our customers we can't say enough.
We appreciate every sale and every
person who has bought from us.
We do our best to ensure satisfaction in every item we sell.
I bought on EBay long before I sold on EBay and there were some things
I knew I was not going to do as a Seller, and some I was.
Once I waited a month for an item I paid for using Paypal. I knew the Seller
had the money, why the delay? I swore, as a Seller, I'd mail an item within
72 hours if not sooner of payment verification.
I leave feedback as soon as I receive feedback. Once the Buyer
has paid and it has cleared the Buyer has fulfilled their obligation. I could
leave feedback then but what if I was to break the item while packing or one
of my children was to damage it. I need to be able to let the buyer know and
refund his money or reduce the price if the Buyer wants it anyway. My responsibility ends
at the Post Office. I know that up till then I did everything I could to make it right.
I used to leave feedback as soon as I shipped an item but have grown weary of leaving feedback for everyone and receiving feedback for 1 of 4 sells. So now I only leave feedback to those who leave it for me.
Of course everyone wants positive feedback but I am sure the eventual negative will come. You just can't please everyone all of the time, no matter how hard you try.
I cannot be responsible for the Post Office conduct, only my own.
If the Buyer feels I have not lived up to my obligations as the Seller he
or she has every right to say so.
I can always add an explanation if I feel the
Neg was not warranted. But I believe that most people are good at heart
and that they will do the right thing. Hopefully if there is a problem the
Buyer will contact me first to see if there is a solution, but I do not believe
you can please everybody all of the time, so the day will come when we receive a Neg.
I just hope it is for something we truly deserve, not just a Buyers venting frustration at
the Post Office or Buyers remorse.
No matter, my husband and I try our best and we
can feel secure in knowing that we did everything we could.
We try to offer more than one choice for shipping but sometimes the cost is so minimal between the two that it is just more convenient to use just one option, especially when one considers the time involved in making a box and/or the price of packaging.
But if ever any Buyer wants another option not available in the listing all they have to do is contact me and if at all possible I will try to make it happen. Some items require minimal packaging and some take a lot of time to make a box, wrap the item in yards of bubble wrap and tape and still everything has to be taken to and pass the Postal worker. We seldom charge more than $2.00 and usually less than $1.00 for S&H even though I can remember it took over an hour to make a box and $6.00 worth of bubble wrap and tape to send one glass mirrored sign. The cost of doing business. We make a few pennies on one item and lose a few on another. There is also the confirmation fees 50 to 60 cents as of this writing but everything goes up. The label printing fees charged by Paypal on all but Priority, $0.20, and other misc. add-ons.
But we do our best to keep shipping costs as low as possible.
We try to be fair
I just want you to know we do our best to keep shipping costs low. Once in a while we may make a bit on shipping especially if we find we can use a flat rate box but this is rare and if we package the item before listing we can get an accurate weight and charge the minimum possible. Usually cost plus $1.00 (Sometimes less) to cover packaging and confirmation and in some cases Paypals fee for printing postage online. Though sometimes you do not want to package first especially on clothing as people will want measurements and you have to unpack everything to get the item to give a measurement. Many times we place all that we think we will need to package on the scale and go by that but sometimes we find that after adding tape and labels and an ounce or two more stuffing to secure the item we've gone over what we thought the rate would be.
I just want you to know we do not build our profit in the shipping as many Sellers do. We try to ship at a reasonable rate, all items we sell.
Insurance or not?
Also as to insurance. This is totally optional but use some common sense. If you purchase a shirt say for $3.00 is it really worth $1.35 to insure it? Or would it be better to bid higher to get the item you want and just eat the $3.00 to $4.35 if the item is lost in shipment or damaged in some way? Also think about what the item is and how it could be damaged. If it is a shirt then most likely the only way it will be damaged is if someone shipped a case of some liquid and it leaked and destroyed the shirt or some sharp object poked through the package. What are the chances of that? Also the mail is far from perfect and there will be loses but how often will this occur and is $1.35 worth a $3.00 item. Remember you can only recover the cost of the item not the shipping. Personally I do not insure items that are not inherently breakable, like glass or porcelain or some such. I also do not insure an item that costs less than I am willing to lose. If I pay $15.00 for a purse I ask myself what could happen and what are the chances it will, and is it worth $1.35 to insure it, or should I take my chances and possibly lose the $15.00. Usually I won't purchase Insurance unless I know it can easily be damaged or it is something of high value that I am not willing to lose to the Post Office workers mishandling. I just think the cost / benefit ratio has to be considered and personally I rather apply the $1.35 to my bid to ensure I get the item or not apply it at all to save me some money. I know I'm taking a chance but it is MY choice. And if ever I lose something to the P.O., I will not blame the Seller. I'm the one who decided not to insure.
Again this is just MY OPINION and Insurance is totally optional and if you want to insure a $3.00 item for another $1.35 added, I will purchase the insurance if you send the money for it. I not trying to talk you out of purchasing Insurance. In fact everyone should consider it on every purchase. YOU have to decide when it is appropriate. AND YOU
need to figure into your decision that we take absolutely NO responsibility for lost or damaged items.
Sorry didn't mean to get off topic. Just needed to get that said.
More Rants
Some Sellers state that they "reciprocate feedback". I may be wrong but I take this as good for good and bad for bad.
Hey if you paid on time and it got to the P.O. OK, you and I did what we needed to do. If I did something wrong give me the opportunity to make it right. If you neg without good cause of course I'll take affront and neg back. But if there is cause and we can't work it out you have a right to say so. I can only add an explaination of my point of view but if you paid on time and the neg is deserved I won't play that game. You will still get your positive provided you gave me the oportunity to make things right and were fair about it.
Currently I am selling about 50% of what I list and am receiving about 25% feedback on what I sell. I wish the numbers were higher on both counts but I can do nothing about sales and I refuse to force a buyer to leave feedback under some threat of reprisal. You leave it or you don't, the choice is yours.
Personally I won't buy from a Seller who gouges on shipping. I understand why; They can list at a lower price lowering their insertion fees and ebay final value fees are calculated on the selling price less shipping, and some Buyers just don't add shipping to the bid and so they take advantage of the ignorant (unknowing or unaware). I saw a listing recently where the item was 99 cents and the shipping was $30.00. Just to save a couple dollars in fees they put their eBay account in jeopardy and an unknowing person might get the shaft. It's just not right. And heres the biggie as far as You are concerned... You can only insure the cost of the item NOT the shipping. So that $0.99 deal won't look so good if you have to collect on insurance.
Getting near the end and more personal.
Words we live by the Golden Rule:
"Treat others the way you would want to be treated."
It is in every one of our listings and we live by it everyday.
It does not say wait and see how others treat you then treat them the same way.
That would be unconscionable, and neither I nor my family will live that way.
Though I think this needs to be said; I do my best to let things not get to me and treat others with respect even if through their actions they obviously do not deserve it, but everyone has their limits. I have little patience for people who do not communicate with me and I personally have a hard time turning the other cheek when someone is obviously trying to scam me.
We try to give you good descriptions and good Pic's so you will be informed as to the Item.
We try to make our requirements as clear as we can in the listing. Even if we lose some peoples interest because the listing is too long. Not a LEANlisting as my girlfriend says. She likes a picture and a end me the money Not into reading much. She will get burned someday and I have an Told You Sowaiting.
I know the listing is long; Too Long... So long that I am sure we lose people's interest. But how do I insure that you, the Buyer, is informed if I chop it down to "Send me the money, I'll send you the item"? That's really all it amounts to. But many want more and without stating our conditions we would be obligated to deliver more or face a hostile buyer who felt they had been taken advantage of. NO, I'd rather lose the interest of some to protect my integrity and that of the listing.
You can always email me if you ever have a question.
But no matter what I'm sure
that we will not be able to live up to everyone's expectations;
Some just set the bar too high and no one can clear the hurdle.
I can't promise that you will be 100% satisfied with every purchase you make from TAMICRAFT or tamidesign
But I can promise that we will do whatever we can to make sure you are.
Thank you for taking the time to read the
"ME" page.
I hope you've gained some insight into the type person I am and that of my family and our values.
I think this is what a
"ME" page should convey. But I had to get all the listing stuff out there as well.
We wish you the best in everything you do.
Happy Bidding.
Tami & Robert
There is more ME stuff on the Tamidesign ME page after all that payment, shipping, refund stuff.
