About Us
My name is Michael Heaton, I began working as a chef 25 years ago. After working steadily through the ranks I became Head Chef for the first time in 1990. Most recently I headed a brigade at a nearby 4 Star hotel, working closely with the team to ultimately gain the prestigious AA Red rosette for food quality.
As a working chef I have travelled nationally and internationally, picking up lots of hints, tips and experience. I have always worked with fresh produce and believe in using only the finest quality raw ingredients.
Why?
I constantly grumble about the quality of basic items available in shops and supermarkets. Many add preservatives, colours and ingredients that are simply not required. One day my wife suggested that "if it bothers you so much why not make your own?", and so it began.
Personally I now organically grow many fresh vegetables and fruits; preserving, pickling and marinating much of my home grown produce. I believe you can taste the difference. My family thrives on home cooked meals - combining fresh produce with top quality staples and exceptional seasonings is quite simply the best way to eat in my opinion.
Equipment?
You need good equipment to help in all aspects of cooking, I decided to source some really good and useful equipment. I now stock a wide variety of items from Kitchen Craft, Apollo House wares and others which are all sound, reliable and trustworthy.
I soon discovered that lots of people searched for many items that I could source relatively easily, given my background in catering, I soon found that I could help ensure that these items were readily available.
You can source items that seem more cost effective, but I give 100% to both pre and after sales. Any problems that can occasionally occur are rectified quickly and responsibly with minimum fuss and always aimed at customer satisfaction.
