Hello! My name is Daniel, living in a small village of approx. 350 population in the middle of nowhere !!! But living here as a great advantage by having a small post office that still has the steel hammer cancellation, since the 1940's. And since March, they now have a philatelic handstamp cancellation, celebrating the 75th anniversary of the village(can only be use till the end of 2007).
Here is a sample of both cancellation:
As for myself, i have been collecting stamps for more than 30 years in large quantity and started to make stamps packet for collectors around the end of the 1980's till 1999. Sold those packet to a few tourist store in Montreal, even made packet with MNH stamps! And in 1999, i start selling on Ebay, under cdnstamps (3714 feedback, only one negative). Than in 2006 under temiscouata (region where i now live).
I am now trying to sell individual modern hard-to-find sets or singles, not many dealers are selling that type of item, probably because it doesn't pay much selling items at $1.00 or less. In my case, just doing this for fun, not to make money. Anyway someone as to fill those "gaps" on ebay regarding selling individual modern stamps or sets. As for quality, i take a lot a time looking the stamps front/back to make sure that there is no defect at all (they might be some in bulk lot, only visible defects are removed in bulk lot). I am extremely picky regarding the quality of a stamps, they have to be perfect! no thin, crease, bend, missing perf. ect... just prefect!. When i buy stamps, i can removed up to 25% of the stamps and throw them in my defect box (garbage when on paper). I do sometime put a hard-to-find stamp with a small defects, but as a *spacefiller* (on title)for a 30 days period, after it is throw in my defects box. So if you see one and would like to fill a hole temporally at a fraction of the price !! Note that i discovered while selling on eBay that many collectors don't mind about quality and rather pay less to fill a hole permanently. that is why i now have a few *spacefiller* and sets at different prices based on cancellations(but no defects). For example, i can offer a set at 99c with light or CDS cancellation and then the same set at 59c, but with an heavier cancellation (not too heavy).
**************************************************************
Before the end of December 2008, i will list over 50 lots divided into 5 periods, 1947-1969(V), 1970-1979(W), 1980-1989(X), 1990-1999(Y) & 2000-2008(Z), all different from each other. **************************************************************
************************************************************** NEWS.....NEWS.....NEWS **************************************************************
NOW S&H FOR ADDITIONAL LOT FOR A SINGLE STAMP LOT AT 20c INSTEAD OF 35c (AND 15c INSTEAD OF 25c WHEN PURCHASING 6 LOTS OR MORE)
NEW: NEED ALSO SOME STAMP FROM SINGLE ISSUE? NOT AN EASY TASK, NORMALLY ONLY SETS ON EBAY, NO DOMESTIC RATE SINGLE OR DOUBLE ISSUES, UNLESS PURCHASING A WHOLE LOT JUST TO GET A FEW STAMPS. IT IS TO EXPENSIVE TO LIST THOSE, SO TO ACCOMODATE COLLECTORS, SO FOR EACH SET OF 4 OR MORE PURCHASE, YOU CAN BUY ONE OR TWO STAMP FROM A SINGLE OR DOUBLE ISSUE(Domestic rate only) AND WITH A CATALOGUE VALUE OF 30c OR LESS, THE PRICE WOULD BE 15c EACH AND 25c EACH FOR THOSE WITH A CATALOGUE VALUE OF 31c-50c. UPON AVAILABILITY, REQUEST MUST BE MADE BEFORE PAYMENT. THE SINGLE STAMP MUST BE FROM THE SAME YEAR OF ISSUE HAS THE SET OF 4 OR MORE PURCHASE. SINGLE OR DOUBLE ISSUE DOMESTIC RATE, NO EXCEPTION. So for example, if you purchase 2 lots of 4 stamps from 1997, you would be able if you wish, to buy 2-4 single/double issue stamps from 1997(domestic rate) and upon availability.NOTE THAT I DO SOME SINGLE/DOUBLE ISSUE LOTS ON EBAY ONCE IN AWHILE (singles/double from the same year). should be listing more years by mid-December.
YOU MAY WANT TO WATCH ONCE IN AWHILE MY "About Me" PAGE FOR ANY NEWS OR SPECIAL !!!
******************** IMPORTANT************************
IF YOU WISH TO BUY A FULL SET OF 10 OR MORE, IT COULD BE CHEAPER TO BUY A FULL SET SOMEWHERE ON EBAY (when available).
I sell individual stamps to accomodate collectors that only need a few stamps from a hard to find sets. Buying individually a full set from me could be sometime more expensive, unless quality is very important for you. Remember, the value of stamps in catalogues are based on a perfect copy, any small defects will reduce the value to almost nothing, except on very high catalogue values (usually 10% of the value, more for stamps with value of $1000's of dollars). Note that i now charge less for single stamp lot, instead of 35c per additional lot, it is 20c and when purchasing 6 lots or more, instead of 25c, it is 15c.
I try to concentrate on stamps from the 1990's and 2000's, they keep me quite busy, i keep trying to reach 400 lots, but they go down to fast !!. But got some help on eBay! someone else is selling individual stamps in good quantity and he has 100% feedbacks, and good prices, i don't know if i am allowed to say his user id name in here (i don't even know him). But he had a good idea to get a great circular cancellation, by making them cancelled in a automatic cancellation machine, and placing the stamps, so the circular part would be on the stamps instead of the waving lines, this is a lot of work! congratulation! great cancellations! (as good has the hammer)
And as for the prices in my ebay store, i have notice that many collector prefer to pay less for medium/heavy cancellations (i normally put my heavy cancellation in my defect box), so i now trying to offer stamps or set with different prices, which will depend on the cancellations. And my recent mint souvenir sheet can be sent mint, CTO or used for postage (covered with plastic after been cancelled). Please do not ask for wanted list, i only sell thru eBay. However, some request can be made for new issues. As for single/double stamp issue, the price is to low for listing on eBay, see "news" above for possibilities of buying some.
DIE CUT TO SHAPE :
Starting in July 2007, i will be listing some « die cut to shape » self-adhesive stamps, it is a relatively new product from Canada Post(a few self-adhesives are with perforation, so not consider as die cut). The first one was the « picture Postage » issued in 2000 (regular & Christmas), since it was issued in booklet of 5 identical stamp, but with stamps adjacent to each other, the only way to have those in Annual collection, was to do the die cut with the backing paper, And in 2001 picture postage was issued in booklet of 5 different, so a full pane was given in those Annual Collection. As for the others commemoratives self-adhesives issued after, most had a border around the stamp or were issued in booklet of 5 differents (so the full booklet was given) and in booklet of 8 or 12, but with 4 different stamps, so then a pane of 4 was given. Then in 2005, Canada Post has started to die cut to shape most of the self adhesives die-cut , even those sets of 4 !! (some in form of strip of 4). My favorite set of 4 "die cut to shape" is the wine & cheese set, better than having to put this huge size panes(2x2).
In Unitrade 2007, most of the die cut to shape are listed and the value is much more for those stamps. In Unitrade 2006 (getting the 2008 soon) some of the definitives are not listed and those definitives & commemoratives with 4 straight edges are also no listed (for now) probably because someone with good eyes and a simple instrument available to anyone (scissor) may cut perfectly around, but most of the time those are sold with the backpaper border on eBay.Note that this is temporaly until someone else will sell those on eBay, it is an expensive item to sell since you get stuck with too many regular singles, blocks or s/s that i already have in good quantity. And i do not use regular stamps for shipping, only s/s or stamps from souvenir sheets or higher face value stamps (so often, stamp i use for shipping as a value higher than the amount paid for S&H.)
Note that i will be listing a few starting in June without knowing the value of those stamps, except for those in Unitrade 2006 (stamps till Sept.2005). (UPDATE: i now have the Unitrade 2008, some description were corrected, some not yet). Those numbers used in my title and description comes from the RPSC website, but the die cut to shape numbers are not listed on this website.
And now here is a few picture to show the difference between having a single purchased from a booklet and those in Annual souvenir album and some quarterly pack. NNote that i do not know much regarding serpentine die cut, i do not specialized in varieties, but from those picture, you may want to check the 85c ! (looks like the one from the roll has one extra peak)
And now those singles purchased from a booklet or roll:
AND THOSE FROM ANNUAL COLLECTIONS:
AND NOW WHICH ONES WOULD YOU PREFER TO HAVE IN YOUR ALBUM AS MINT NEVER HINGED?

SHIPPING:(Note that additional lot fees is for lot of 10 stamps or less)
As for shipping, i am always using prime stamps for shipping, for example, i will use stamps from an ex-souvenir sheet, that has the perforation different from original issue and when you are buying 5 lots or more, i use a souvenir sheet for shipping. And everything is packed like if i was sending your lots to myself and when i use a souvenir sheet, after been cancelled, the envelope will be inside a transparent plastic bag for maximum protection( 5 lots or more), i have been doing this for over a year now, and no one has received without the plastic(to my knowledge). So when sending an item, i try to imagine that i am sending the shipping to me, so i learned a lot by buying, for example, did you ever received someting with so much scotch tape, that you are afraid to damage the stamps by opening it? I use just enought and also placing a piece of paper on top of the tape, much easier to remove. The only time i use a lot of tape, is on the plastic covering the envelope, just to make sure no ones remove the plastic.
As for the S&H fees, it is equal or below most of the other stamps dealers, a few are charging lower than me (but probably using common stamps). I personally don't mind paying more than my S&H fees when buying, because i know all the work related to shipping (however i do mind overcharging on additional item), if i was doing this for a living, i would have to charge more for S&H, and remember, the handling part is not only the time spend on shipping, but all the accessory(enveloppe, glassine, cardboard, paper & ink and plastic when needed). So please take that in consideration when you put a rating for the S&H fees, think about-it, do you rather have a stamp that you couldn't get more than a few cents for-it or to have a stamp that you could get easily between 50c and a dollar or more. And when purchasing 5 lots or more, you get a very fine s/s with a great CDS cancellation, that most of the time, would cost you more than the amount you had paid for my S&H (if the same s/s purchased on ebay with the S&H). Note that when purchasing 6 lots or more, additional lots are at 25c instead of 35c(even less for 20 lots or more), Ebay system is not program for special on S&H fees, my S&H boxes are not locked, so you can fix-it yourself or wait for my invoice (not ebay's)
*IMPORTANT* FOR INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS:OCCASIONALLY SOME INTERNATIONAL BIDDER ARE CHOOSING "UPS Standard To Canada" INSTEAD OF "Standard Int'l Flat Rate Shipping" PLEASE WAIT FOR AN INVOICE IF YOU ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH EBAY PAYMENT IF YOU MAKE A MISTAKE, THE PAYMENT WILL BE REFUNDED AND AN INVOICE WILL BE SEND, I WILL THEN HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO USE COMMON STAMPS FOR SHIPPING INSTEAD OF A SOUVENIR SHEET. Refunding and explain on email why, then make a new invoice is time consuming. I rather list item on ebay instead of wasting my time on this.
NOTE THAT I USUALLY SHIP MY LOTS WITHIN 48 HOURS AFTER PAYMENT IS RECEIVE (Monday to Friday) Post Office here is closed on weekends and holidays.
HOWEVER, WHEN ON VACATION, I LEAVE MY STORE OPEN BUT ON VACATION SETTING, YOU CAN STILL BUY BUT THE LOT(S) PURCHASES ARE SENT ON MY RETURN.
Most of my stamps, particularly the souvenir sheets, are postally used, a few are CTO'S (cancel to order, usely with gum). To get some postally used souvenir sheets, i send 2-3 times a year (not necessarily on the same day) to family and friends, all my mailing by express post, therefore many $$ on the envelopes or parcels. And my sister-in-law, living in the same village as me, is sending once in awhile, parcels to my brother in BC, using my mint souvenir sheets nicely cancelled with the steel hammer.
So if you are reading this, and you are in 2007, watch for my lot starting around mid-December for postally used s/s or hard-to-find recent singles and all well soaked and flat. I use a special book for drying the souvenir sheets (that type of book can be bought on eBay). If you have any question, feel free to ask! it will be a pleasure to help you, even to help you start selling on eBay.
This "about me" page is temporarily, will make a better one later.
