I'm Terry Woods from Hamilton , Scotland I'm now a father of three and grandfather of two but I've been a stamp collector for about 45 years. Although I have had collections of many countries and a few thematic collections my main interest now is Scottish Postal History, with special interest in the county of Lanarkshire excluding the city of Glasgow . I'm particularly interested in my home town of Hamilton and the surrounding area, but items from every other town and village are wanted. The earliest item in my Lanarkshire Postal History collection is from 1666 and I collect items of interest up to the present day. The collection contains some quite scarce material and items which are so far known to be unique. The collection has won awards at the Scottish Congress, Club level and also a silver medal at the Bi-annual ABPS Exhibition at Newcastle in 1998. In 1997 my wife and I had a holiday in Jamaica and since then I have been forming a collection of postmarks from the island. In the past I have formed a fine collection of Chile both stamps and postal history, I had a great interest in British Line Engraved Issues and also formed collections of several Commonwealth countries.  

You will find a selection of material here from my collections. These days not to many items as I am too busy but on "free listing" and other Special cheap listing days you may find some better material here. As these items are from my collections once they are sold they are usually never to be repeated offers. I try to list items as cheaply as possible to encourage bidding; you can see the photos so you know what is on offer. 

Although I served my time as a mechanical engineer with Rolls-Royce in Scotland , I have been out of that industry for about twenty years and after several other occupations I was working as a UK technical support and quality analyst in the supply of home broadband, helping you guys and gals stay connected to the internet. I'm now working in the Quality Dept of Scotland's largest outsourcing company which provides technical, financial and customer services to several "blue chip" companies.

THE SCOTTISH POSTAL HISTORY SOCIETY

and Philately in Scotland  

I'm a founder member of the Scottish Postal History Society; we usually have two meetings per year in Dunblane plus a Conference Weekend which includes the AGM and a live auction of Scottish Material. At these meetings we have invited displays and also an opportunity for members to bring along material for display and or discussion. Unfortunately we don't have an exchange packet, but there are usually a couple of postal auctions of member’s material per year. We have a quarterly journal "The Scottish Post" which includes articles on all aspects of Scottish postal history I am the current Editor of this journal. The society has a publication fund which it can use to aid the publication of books on Scottish Postal History, recently we published the 2nd edition of the Late Bruce Auckland's "Postmarks of Scotland to 1840" copies are still available from the society. The Society has a worldwide membership and would welcome new members; I can email an application form to anyone interested in joining. We also have a website at www.sphs.org.uk . I'm also the exchange packet Secretary for the Caledonian Philatelic Society in Glasgow and we would also welcome booklets of material from non-members for inclusion in out packet circuit.
