My artwork has been seen in Teddy Bear Review Magazine & Dolls House and Miniature Scene Magazine. My animal sculptures can be found in Australia, Austria, Canada, France, Japan, Norway, the UK, and throughout the United States. I happily ship worldwide, just ask for a shipping quote.
My life has revolved around my two greatest interests, animals and art. I sold my first sculpture in high school. Since then, I've done a lot of volunteer work helping all types of animals, from house pets to tigers, and decided to use my art as a way to help homeless animals and endangered wildlife. The internet has enabled me to gain worldwide exposure as an artist. On eBay, I have been selling for over 2 and a half years. I was introduced to the basics of the art of needle felting over 2 years ago. Through experimentation with various materials, I devloped my own unique style. Materials incorporated into each sculpture are carefully selected to capture the look & feel of each species and breed I sculpt.
I do not use kits or patterns in any of my OOAK orriginals. Instead, I work from my own mind and photos of real animals. Unless attempting to create a specific pet, I tend to let materials bring their own life into the art, letting them give shape to the sculpture instead of forcing them into a set idea. My needle felted art is usually poseable minis, jointed or wire frame; I also make static sculptures. Please note that these works of art are intended for the adult collector. Small children and pets might see these as playthings so keep them out of reach.
The current two pictures on this page were modeled after real pets and were created using photos of the models. See both the black and white Tuxedo Persian cat and the long haired Akita dog with the pictures of their models on this page. See more of my work on My Web Page, find the link at the bottom of this page.
Special note on materials and the creation process: I use a combination of materials in these sculptures to achieve realistic look and feel. I work with wool, mohair, silk, as well as plant fibers such as soy and bamboo, and even synthetic fibers similar in shine and feel to mohair or silk. Natural wool and mohair fibers used in felting come from shearing a sheep or goat, as in grooming or giving an animal a hair cut. Much of my supplies come from farm animal sanctuaries that take in sheep & other animals. No animals were harmed to obtain the materials used.
About my auctions: I start bidding low to encourage more bids and the spirit of an auction; starting price does not reflect the quality or large amount of time that goes into creating each of these orriginals. I can combine shipping for multiple items. Feel free to email me with requests for a particular breed or species of animal, but please note that there will be a wait period while I finish previous requests.
Inspiration for my miniature needle felted animal sculptures often comes from homeless animals in animal shelters in need of adoption. See the rescue links for some sources of inspiration.
