Salamanders!
I changed my ebay name because I was bored with my existing one - my forename followed by 4 numbers. "That looks like a salamander to me!" bizarrely enough is a quotation from my son just before he was three.
Ebay!
I buy and sell various bits and pieces on ebay, mostly photographic items, but also a car and a holiday - I will always do what i can to ensure a transaction is smooth and friendly.
Feedback!
If I am buying I will always leave feedback to let the seller know I am happy with my purchase, and they can consider the transaction closed.
If I am selling I will always leave feedback once the buyer has let me know that they are happy with the item(s). Unless otherwise stated, I will offer a refund (less postage) if the buyer requests this within 7 days. If I have heard nothing for 8 weeks, I will assume that the item has been received and that the buyer is happy - I'll leave feed back and consider the transaction closed.
Pictures!
When listing images, I have taken to linking to photobucket - I can then list as many large high quality images as I need without being fleeced. If anyone finds the file sizes too big, then let me know.
I am currently using a Nikon D80 with a Nikkor 60mm micro lens; what a great lens, I am enjoying using it so much I am posting more pictures than I need to.
Post and Packaging!
I usually estimate postage then add a bit for packaging, sometimes i am a bit over, and sometimes a bit under - if anyone thinks they have paid too much, I dont have a problem with being asked to justify it.
I believe in using lots of new bubble wrap and parcel tape! But I always try to re-cycle boxes, it keeps the cost down, is a bit greener and usually better. The few 'proper' boxes i have bought new have been considerably weaker than a Beck's beer box + they didnt come with 24 bottles of beer.
Nikon
I have used a D50 for a year and more recently a D80, I dont have a strong sense of brand loyalty, but Ive been pretty happy with them. An excellent resource for Nikon cameras can be found at Pictorial History of Nikon cameras .Negative ebay experiences
Had a couple in the last month or two. A big seller bought a camera from me, I had no communication at all, then out of the blue they had initiated a dispute via Paypal saying it hadnt arrived - I had the tracking number proving that it had both been posted and had arrived at their local post office. So they rapidly withdraw the dispute. If I were more cynical I'd think that this was an attempt to intimidate in order to get a refund. I now always send via a tracked service, its only marginally more expensive for domestic postage.
