We believe children are a gift from God. "Behold, children are a gift of the Lord; the fruit of the womb is a reward" (Psalm 127:3). We believe that the parent is charged to train up a child. "Train up a child in the way he should go, even when old he will not depart from it" (Proverbs 22:6). Intellectual training - education - is a natural part of this directive. It is the responsibility of the parent - not the state - to train up and educate a child. "And these words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart; and you shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up" (Deuteronomy 6:6,7).
