I am a single mother, who is now retired, but in another life, I have been an accountant, an insurance director, personnel director and a corporate controller. Also, for a few years, I had a small retail business to try to help make ends meet. When I closed that business, I was left with inventory.

And for many years, I have purchased toys, clothing, school supplies and personal hygiene products for needy children. I'm proud to say that each Christmas, up until a year ago, I supplied packages with all these items included in them, usually for about 200 kids. But now, due to health reasons, I can no longer do the shopping for this project, so I have given it up.

The inventory from the business was stored at my house and is still there. The left-over toys and other items from my needy kids' project are still here (even after giving away a van load to a church). Therefore, my home is no longer a house.....it has become a warehouse! Stuff is stacked everywhere!

Now enters eBay. I was aware of the website, but had never paid any attention to it until recently. One day, my son (my one and only offspring) said to me, "Mom, (this was after he had almost fallen over a stack of boxes stored in his old bedroom) why don't you try selling this old junk on eBay"? After haughtily informing him that my "stuff" was not junk, I decided to give his "suggestion" some thought.

First, I bought a "few" (and I use that word loosely also) items to see how things worked. I'm an expert at "buying things". Just ask anyone who knows me. Anyway, I decided that maybe #1 son had a good idea, so here I am! Of course, he had to come and help me learn to deal with the camera/picture bit after I said some really "naughty" words and almost threw it and the computer out the window!

Seriously, my "stuff" is not junk. Some of the items may have been on display for a while, but basically it's all new merchandise. And the children's things have never left my house since they were purchased. Most of these things are still in the original package. Eventually, I probably will clean out my closets (that's work, so I'll have to be pretty desperate.......after all, I'm retired!) and put up some of those items for auction. If I do, I definitely will specify that they are used merchandise.
