TEA & ME:
I was first introduced to Afternoon Tea in the late 1980's at the Huntington Museum & Garden Tea Room in Southern California. Since then, I've continued to introduce and share this ritual with friends, family and acquaintances. We always look forward to attending or hosting the next tea party and patron tea rooms in our area, and while traveling. I have been fortunate to have experienced taking afternoon tea in countries such as Asia, India, England, Italy, and throughout the United States.
Afternoon Tea is a timeless tradition reminiscent of an era when congeniality, civility and grace was at the forefront, and taking time for family and friends was a priority; something that is slowly being lost in our society today. For me, Afternoon Tea is when I take time out of my busy day to slow down, take time for myself or with friends and family over a pot of tea. Its a time to converse, bond, share, and reflect on the day; to remember what is important in life, and to be thankful. I take such pleasure in this timeless tradition, but more so in sharing it with others.
INSPIRATION FOR TEA AT TIFFANY'S
In the mid 1990's, while visiting my home town, I invited my best friend from high school to her first afternoon tea at the Compass Rose located in the historic St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco (the tea room sadly closed in 2004). Over tea, we reminisced, caught up with the latest in our lives, and fantasized about the idea of opening a tea room. It was our lovely afternoon tea together that inspired my girlfriend to start her own Children's Tea Party business that same year. She is still in business today; no longer advertises; and books all her parties through word-of-mouth.
So you ask, what does this have to do with Tea at Tiffany's? When I returned home to the Bay Area for good in the late 1990's, I dabbled in buying and selling on ebay. My girlfriend's tea party business was going strong and I took notice of the lovely teacups she was using and giving away as party favors for her business. She gladly gave me several boxes to sell on ebay. Needless to say, they were a huge hit and the rest is history. The Victorian Rose and Vintage Rose Demitasse and Teacups are our signature and best selling item to this day. As party favors, they are the most unique and elegant, and very popular for bridal and baby showers, as well as for birthdays and anniversaries. So you see, amazing and life-changing things can happen over a cuppa tea!
For those of you who share my sentiments and love of taking tea, I wish Tea at Tiffany's to be a place you always return with a smile. For those of you who are new to taking tea, I welcome you to contact me with any questions. Tea is my passion and I am always happy to share and learn new ideas and information with anyone interested.
Warmest Regards,
Josephine
