Secondhand
and Vintage Items
Are
they for you?
I
Love Vintage and Secondhand Clothes WHY? I don't like to follow
current
trend I prefer to stand out in a crowd. A perfect day of fashion
for
me can be wearing a fringe suede jacket that was at Woodstock or a 50s
dress that might have been to an amazing cocktail party. A
perfect I
could never afford this New day is wearing my secondhand floor length
Mycra Pac Black Velvet reversible Hooded coat that originally sold
at
$250.00 in Nieman
Marcus makes me feel like a Lady in a medieval cloak. Cost me a
Button to make it New again.
Vintage
items no matter how carefully stored will never be perfect even if the
garment tags are still attached. Time & Light Fades Colors,
Natural
fibers can break down and even light wear leaves it's mark.
However
new never traveled on the Titanic, danced at WWII USO in
Hollywood or
American Bandstand in Philadelphia... Did not sneak into a speak easy
or snap fingers at a Beatnik poetry reading.... Stand in Mission
control during the Space Race or Drive accross America in a Ford Model
T. Please don't tell me that last years Dolce & Gabbana
at a 75% savings is any less chic than it was at Full
Price. Don't tell me 70s GUCCI is less of a statement than GUCCI
new today. Chanel is Chanel no matter what era.
How
do you know Secondhand and Vintage is for you? If you answer Yes
to
any of the following RUN as far away from our store as quickly as you
possibly can!
- Does
the idea that a
person once smoked in a Vintage
"Smoking Jacket" nauseate you although
the item was recently dry cleaned ?
- Do
you wash everything after it has been worn only once?
- Do
Pollen and Mold spores send you screaming into the night?
- If
a "Very Best Friend" wanted to borrow your clothes would you say NO!
and if she did you would burn the item before it would touch your skin
no matter how it was cleaned?
- Would
leave the party of the Millennium if a drop of anything spilt on your
clothes?
- You
Will
only wear designer clothing of the current year?
- Does
Pilling or a solitary fuzzy ball on an Angora or Cashmere sweater
render it unwearable good only for dusting the wood furniture.
- Do
you believe Polyester is the Uniform of Trailer Park inhabitants and
you would not be caught dead in it?
- Is
Secondhand and Vintage clothing only for the Homeless and Vagrants?
Finally If you
are
distressed by the following Run FASTER than before:
Although
many items come to us freshly dry cleaned not all do please bid
accordingly Like a returning home college student
when Vintage & Secondhand items
were not in our care we have no idea who they hung out with
Drinkers, Curry Cookers, Smokers, Flower Lovers,
Spore Collector etc. Although we air, refresh and
then store in a filtered air environment sever allergy suffers should take the above into
account before bidding on or buying items. Thank for reading this
information before bidding
If
you answer NO to all of the above you have found the right place!
Ratings

Please
Remember 1990s excellent would be different from a 1920's excellent
rated item as age is taken into consideration when rating
vintage/antique items. We try to capture any flaws in our photos
so you will not be surprised. Watches rate differently from a Fur
Coat and of course as with all vintage items a tags attached on a 1950s
item will not be like an item purchased yesterday.

question please ask before buying or bidding as we want you to be happy.
EYEWEAR - In most cases Vintage
or Secondhand Sunglasses will have scratches of some sort unless listed
as New or Mint. Everyone seems to look at lense scratches
differently. One scratch on a rare vintage pair can make one
buyer angery and another buyer amazed they are in such great
condition. Some people think a ding is a minor thing others the
end of the world.
We look at the age and overall condition. ie a pair from the 40s
with a scratch outside line of site and perfect frame would be rated
Near Mint... but a pair from the 80s would only Excellent as they
are not as old. If the lenses are hash scratched we rate them TLC
or state
for Costume use only. Scratching that does not totally obsure
vision but are distracting will have a good for poolside or looking
cool but not driving. |
