My name is Kerry and I am neck deep in home accent pieces and absolutely love it! My forever passion is home decorating & designs on a shoestring budget. Oh and floral designing & anything in between. :) I have been doing this for 17yrs. & love, love, love it!
My journey began when I was just a little girl. I grew up in a 900 sq. foot home with my 2 brothers and mom & dad. My mom always had a way with decorating that tiny little space. She some how always made it feel much bigger then what it was. I was so fascinated with her ideas! Her gift rubbed off on me when I was just a teenager. I designed my bedroom layout along with the colors. How funny that had to be to my mom! An actual teenager wanting to be like their parent. The colors I picked were preppy pink and hunter green. I even made a handmade stencil of hearts to be the border around the top. A couple of stripes here and there and it was my own space. I accented it with white wicker and a white wrought iron bed my mom found at a garage sale.
Years later my envisions & dreams started to come to life with the public in my garage with a few craft shows now and then. Actually they were glorified garage sales with information given out on budget decorating. Soon everyone wanted an advance notice of our garage sale. I then moved up to do traveling shows. Which was wonderful but putting up and taking down the exhibit was tiresome. Eventually I opened up a shop in my house called The Fence Post. It was wonderful because I could stay at home with the baby and have my shop.
Eventually the business was so busy I had to take a break & slow down for a few years during the birth of our 2nd child & focus more on the little ones. But that didn't stop me from going to the flea markets, garage sales, barn sales, & running to the stores when I saw that SALE or CLEARANCE flyer. By the time the 4th baby came I was itching to get back to business. The shop was reborn with a new name
"The Old Fence Post"...we wanted to add the word old into it, to remember the good old memories we first had with the shop 17 yrs. ago.
Today... My business is online only. We had to turn the home shop into a family room to accomadate our growing family :) I am so thankful and blessed that I have so much support from my husband of 18 yrs. and 4 exceptional children.
My family is my INSPIRATION in everything that I do! They are the reason my dreams are being filled along with my buyer and seller friends on EBAY! I get so excited when I can help others find passion in decorating. The feeling is something I can't explain....To sum it up is a quote I found ~

I am so blessed my mom touched me the way she did with her talent. Today I am working side by side with my 4 children teaching them how you can decorate on a shoestring budget & feel good about it!
It helps them appreciate what we have.
