Used by Pilot Studios
I started in the repair department of a local musical instrument and stereo resale store in 1978. Getting bored on all the broken items that needed repair I tried something new by taking a working effect pedal and rewiring and adding parts to make it do what was never intended. 20 years later I would learn that this is called circuit bending. In 1985 the 'Blown Speaker Emulator' was created and actually sold! This was quickly followed by the 'Ugly Monster Distortion Pedal' but my boss wanted me to stop this wasteful nonsense. I know that these archaic creations are now called 'boutique pedals'and can command many hundreds of dollars. I sold mine for $20....oh.....ouch!.
In 1991 I had come across a vintage Theremin at a radio swap meet where the seller said it was a really lousy burglar alarm. I just knew that millions of these lousy alarms were desperately needed in homes and recording studios! It was time to quit work and get to work.
We have sold to individuals from all over the world for home, rave, party,dj & club use, regional and national musical acts performing all types of music such as psychedelic garage rock, punk, mod and techno/industrial goth music), spooky halloween "haunted" houses (creepy B-movie ghost noise), many schools including schools for the blind & special needs children (used in theater and band - for melodic, experimental music & science fiction fx), mystics, faith healers, sound effects companies, film makers (for modern movie & commercial audio - or that vintage space age, space ship, outer space type sound), music video creators, ad agencies (including one that ordered 24 - a theremin orchestra?), as well as several "hands on" interactive museums.
Most people associate the sound of a theremin with vintage science fiction / horror movies, or bands such as Led Zeppelin (Jimmy Page/Paige plays one in "The Song Remains the Same") that utilized the instrument in their musical mix. The Beach Boys used a similar electro-theremin / Ondes Martenot synthesiser instrument in the song "Good Vibrations". This electronic instrument is a bit unusual in that it is played without actually coming in contact with the theremin itself.
This is a Genuine Radio Frequency Heterodyne Analog Theremin by Theremaniacs. The sound and playing style is faithful to the original. It is NOT a poor sounding, single Integrated Circuit Digital Theremin.
