About us….

I’m a Professor of Accounting in the California State University system and teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels. I went to various universities for 30 years while working in private industry full-time and teaching part-time and accumulated a BS (Accounting) and an MBA (Marketing) from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona; an MA (Economics and Quantitative Methods) from Claremont Graduate University; and a Ph.D. (Business-Accounting Emphasis) from Pacific Western University; I’m also a CMA (Certified Management Accountant) and have a lifetime teaching credential.

My wife is an editor for the Orange County Register and has a BA (Sociology and Psychology) from the University of California at Santa Barbara, so she is a lot smarter than I am.

Stamps….

Stamps are one of the passions of my life (along with reading, karate, home improvement projects and golf), and they have been for the last 55 years, ever since my mother gave me my first stamp album when I was six years old. My collection is currently housed in 18 Minkus volumes and 30 specialty Scott volumes, with another 10 miscellaneous (6 specialty Minkus, Harris and homemade) volumes to handle the collections for countries I really enjoy accumulating as well as all the odd ball stuff.

My own collection is worldwide with significant accumulations in all of the major stamp producing nations. During the past 10 years I’ve really focused on Canada, and Danzig (having complete collections of both mint and postally used with Danzig Postmarks). I've recently started expanding my Danzig to collecting postally used - non-Danzig postmarks, and a fourth collection of cancel-to-order. I’ve somewhat shifted my attention to Germany, the South American countries, air mails and the out-of-the-usual. I’m particularly fascinated by the color and beauty of engraved stamps, no matter what country they’re from.

I am committed to your satisfaction. I do my best to describe my stamps as accurately as possible. If I incorrectly describe a stamp, return it within 7 days and I will refund your purchase price as well as shipping and handling costs. Return items for any other reason, within 7 days, and I will only refund the cost of the lot, and not for any shipping and handling. No refunds will be made for any items returned after 7 days of receipt.

Keep in mind that when you bid or buy you are agreeing to my terms of sale! As a former business executive and current university professor of accounting I am selling stamps, I don’t need for my collection, as a business, not a charity. The cost and effort put into accumulating new material, listing it, collecting for it, packaging it and mailing it is significant. If I can’t make a small profit on selling my duplicate material and stamp acquisitions, I’ll just collect and not bother with selling.

I will gladly combine single stamp purchases at the rate of 2 stamps for a single shipping and handling fee. For collections (remember you are buying bulk pages), I may or may not combine shipping and handling (usually a 10% to 15% reduction at the most), depending on buying (purchasing fees), listing (eBay fees), collecting (PayPal fees), and shipping (USPS fees, which have significantly increased). I do not build profit into my S&H charges like some other sellers, but I feel that I should be able to recover my costs.

I prefer payment through PayPal (although I will accept a Money Order), which lets me receive your payment instantly and ship your item sooner.Payment must be received within 72 hours of the end of the auction!! If payment is not received by day 8, I will relist the item and leave negative feedback. When I am a successful bidder on an auction, I usually pay within 15 minutes of the completion of the auction; I expect similar courtesy.

Overseas customers are welcome if paying with PayPal! Keep in mind that shipping will be significantly more. I must always file a customs form claiming the full FINAL BID AMOUNT when shipping out of the United States. It’s a shame that some of our collector friends in other countries must pay high duty charges on the items they purchase, but I must protect my business interests. Please do not request that I check the "Gift Box" or claim an amount less than the Final Bid. Thank you for your understanding. When possible I will mail items using a #10 envelope to avoid completing a customs declaration and having you incur additional charges on your end.

I will provide insurance on your purchase at an additional (the USPS established) fee, and I will require the buyer to pay for insurance when the value of the purchase is $100 or more. I recommed insurance at the $50 level. Below that, it's up to you. I insure everything I buy, no matter the price.
