Steve Hund Jr., owner and lineal descendant of Paxico's first German founders, began selling antique wood-burning parlor stoves nearly 30 ago. He purchased a historic 1890's building in downtown Paxico to house his collection of American and Victorian antiques. He continues to specialize in the restoration of vintage wood and gas heating stoves and cook stoves.

Restoration involves disassembling the stoves, sandblasting them to remove rust, locating or casting new pieces if needed, and nickel-plating the trim for the final touch.

"The stoves remind people of a simpler time," says Hund. "People remember going into grandma’s house and smelling apple pie baking in the woodstove."
