VINTAGE RECORDS RECORD GRADING SYSTEM
All records are visually graded. Individual discs will be selectively play graded upon request. We grade conservatively using the Goldmine standard as an indicator.
|
| SS (Still Sealed) | In factory fresh condition |
| M (Mint) | Used only if the item is unsealed but otherwise unplayed. |
| NM (Near Mint) | A record which shows no obvious signs of wear. The sleeve may show only minor signs of handling. |
| EX (Excellent) | Reserved for records (particularly classical and jazz) which, for some minor reason, cannot be graded NM. |
| VG+ (Very Good Plus) | Even a superficial mark that doesn't affect play may move an otherwise NM or EX record to VG+. Only well cared for records are graded VG+. Surfaces may have very slight signs of wear or light scuffs that don't effect listening quality. Minor cover wear is also acceptable. This grade is generally sufficient to satisfy all but the most extremely demanding collector. |
| VG (Very Good) | A copy that has been played several times. There may be more obvious signs of wear and some surface noise, but still plays well. There might be a sticker or writing on label or sleeve or tape but not necessarily any or all of these problems. |
| VG- (Very Good Minus) | A used, reasonable copy. Usually more significant wear and marks and noticeable surface noise especially during quieter passages. The jacket may also exhibit more significant signs of wear including split seams, writing, tears stickers but not necessarily any or all of these problems. |
| G (Good) | Records will only be listed with this grading if they are sufficiently rare or collectable. They will still play reasonably well but should generally be regarded as "fillers" until a better copy is obtained. |
