HI Y'ALL from KIT FROEBEL, THIMBLE COLLECTOR!
In 2000, my husband, Dick, and I bought a home outside New Braunfels, at the edge of the Texas Hill Country near San Antonio. We wanted to be closer to our daughters, who both live in Austin. We moved from Houston, where we had lived in the same house for more than 41 years, to 1 3/4 wooded acres a few miles from town. There are two rivers and a lake nearby, so it is a big tourist area. We are enjoying the peace and quiet as well as the various birds and animals that visit us.I have been fascinated with thimbles since my mother gave me my first thimble in 1942. In 1945, her mother, gave me a handful of brass thimbles, which I still cherish. I have been actively collecting thimbles since 1976, and buying them for resale since 1982. I still love unusual brass thimbles, and some gold thimbles, but the focus of my collection is on sterling silver thimbles, of which I like those by American makers best. I have separate subcollections of thimbles that fall into the cupid-cherub, roses, grape, and gadget categories. My favorite part of collecting is the people I meet who have this common interest. I think
thimble collectors are among the nicest people in the world.I enjoy my thimble research books, and get great pleasure from helping new collectors or anyone with a thimble
question. In 1982, I bought the first of many thimble collections, kept those I needed for my collection, and sold the others. I found that I loved selling almost as much as collecting, and
it helped pay for my "habit". I sold via mail order for years, but now I sell on eBay and from my own personal web site. I pride myself on my reputation as a buyer and seller, and try to
hold myself to a high standard. You can bid with confidence on my auctions, and buy with assurance from my web site. I enjoy "playing thimbles" especially when another collector
comes to visit. That is what is happening in some of the pictures shown if you click the links under "PICTURES". OUR FIRST GRANDCHILD, JACK, is THREE YEARS OLD NOW. Thanks for looking. |
