Hi, my name is Cliff Aliperti. I've been running a collectibles website, things-and-other-stuff.com, specializing in vintage movie stars - movies - and especially movie cards and collectibles for the past 7 or 8 years now. The site has evolved to include an extensive section about Collecting Old Magazines as well, including articles about several of the publication's histories as well.

You can click on my feedback number to see I've been on eBay since April 2000 -- but I've been involved with collectibles pretty much my entire life. My uncle is a baseball card dealer and I started helping him out with shows and live auctions back when I was a teen-ager in the mid-1980's. I started setting up at shows myself and did that full-time from about 1989-1993. Then a late start at college and another 4 years spent working in the "real" world sidetracked me for a bit, though did teach me my way around the computer. The first item I listed for sale on eBay was actually a book I picked up at an antiques shop in Manhattan that I composed the listing for at my desk during lunch break. By 2004 I left that cozy NYC job and began selling on eBay full-time.

I don't do too much with baseball cards anymore (the margins are too low), but I do handle a fair amount of vintage sports magazines, especially The Sporting News. I sell a good amount of general magazines such as Life, Time, Newsweek, and some of the more literary titles such as The Atlantic, Harper's and others. There is also a movie cards and collectibles section in my eBay store -- I stick to selling original material issued from the Silent Age through to about the 1950's. I specialize in single cards and photos, especially premiums and supplements, very tough to find and often condition sensitive. Have a look, there are more than a couple of thousand items to choose from right now, and adding every day. Enjoy!
