I too, am looking forward to moving to TN as i have never been there except to visit Wayne's parents. With this move, i will be able to help my husband acheive his dream - just as he has made my dream come true.
I have become a full-time mom to my 2 wonderful kids - boy age 14 and girl age 11; not to mention being able to devote my time to my husband and home. I am no June Cleaver however, and Wayne has been very patient and understanding with me as I learn this new role in life.
I am however, a mean Betty Crocker. Best way to a man's heart is through his stomach they say, and thank goodness my husband has always had extra helpings. Being raised around Duluth, MN, i am learning how to cook the southern meals that he was raised on. Funny story: first time i fried catfish for Wayne and his friend, i coated the fish with pure cornstarch, because the box stated that it made the fish crispy. Needless to say, it was an experimentation in fish frying never before seen and often laughed about to this day.
The Aquarian in me shouts to save the world. Finally, after months of collecting, Wayne told me that i had to start throwing away the "garbage". I saved everything that had a lid, or could be usefull at some point, as long as it was washed in bleach water. Our cupboards had begun to overflow with empty butter containers and salsa jars.
Now, i have turned that passion for recycling into the fuel that allows me the energy to launder 100's of pounds of clothes weekly, to donate to the newly opened Thrift Shop by the New Beginning Outreach Ministry here in Wewahitchka.
Though word of mouth, donations and scavenging, household laundry has come to me. From clothing, bedding and blankets, to towels and washcloths, they all come through my laundry area for a good cleaning and liquid fabric softner before a dry and fold. Every week that i am able to bring bags and boxes to them, i feel blessed, as i know how hard it is to afford a new pair of shoes, let alone a shirt or pants.
When i'm not busy learning how to be a better person, wife and mother; doing what those job take, and i can steal a few minutes by myself - i can be found writing in my notebook.
I love to write. The written English language has always come natural to me. I learned about writing in the 6th grade and by 7th, i was writing poetry and finished my first short story. One of my friends at the time told me to just write a paragraph a day to make a "book". So in challenge i did. After completing that mission, I then put my energies more in the direction of poetry.
One day, out of the blue, out of my mouth, I heard A Quiet Knowing. Not wanting to forget those words, I took out my dry erase marker and wrote the title in large letters across the top of my dresser mirror, in big purple letters. I just thought that it would be a nice title for a piece of writing. I had no idea at the time I put it there, what it would actually turn out being.
The poem itself was created months after the title lingered before my eyes as a constant everyday reminder of some unseen knowing that was inside me, something that gently tickled at the far corners of my conscious understanding; something that was far from the pain, confusion, anxiety and feelings of being lost and hopeless that I had experienced all my life.
Coincidently, at this time, I was newly married, and for the first time in my life, I was just beginning my spiritual walk, and understanding.
(And, I might add, my dreams were all turning into realities. I was becoming to live my dream as a devoted wife to an adoring husband, not to mention the mother that my children so desparately need- one that is home all the time.)
This is my first published work. In fact it was my husband who talked me into entering a poetry contest. I did so without thinking that I would even get published.
Boy was I surprised when I got the letter in the mail telling me that I had won the Editor's Choice Award for Outstanding Achievement in Poetry.
I fell out of my chair when I received my copy of Twilight Musings and opened the book to find my poem to be the first in the whole book of compilations! I did not win any cash, but 1st page, in a compilation book of poetry by various artists, ain't too shabby either.
My second published poem, For Saime, was featured on the first page of The Best Poems and Poets of 2005(The International Library of Poetry). It was a poem that i wrote for my Grandmother at her funeral. Surprized as i was at the 1st poem making it to the front page, it did not compare to the surprize and joy that i felt upon opening this book to find my Gram on the first page.
Currently i am in the process of writing another "book". It is putting into words the intricate and delicate connections between one's own subconsious and consious minds and the interaction they have with the personality(s) that have evolved due to those connections.
Seems a daunting task as i am just beginning it, but so too does the laundry at the beginning of every week; only to find, given the materials and time, the successfull completion of the mission and the victory to be claimed is mine.
With this move to TN, i will be in a place where there will be more time and energy to focus on this chapter in my life.

My Finnish Gram used to say, (please forgive my phonic spelling):
"Kika many meta tooly eka pea sok on." All said in one word, meaning: Everything that came, left, because there wasn't enough to go around.
I always felt sad when she would say that. Even as a small child. I saw all that was being wasted by those around me, things that were thrown out as "trash" just make room for the newest trend or latest fad.
I have lived through hurricanes here in Florida and felt the pain and destruction of hurricane Katrina. All that was lost. All that could have been saved prior to the devastation through recycling, and giving away to churches or charities instead of filling our diminishing landfills.
That is why i seem like the "crazy laundry lady", fervently collecting and restoring to life what was once destined for the garbage pit. Hoping that everyone that comes, will not leave, because there Is plenty to go around.
