You might be wondering a little bit about how Emmie-Lou Designs came to be. Well, since you are here, I will tell you!
I have always been a creative person by nature and so I knew I had to find something that I would truly love to do if it was going to keep me interested and keep me happy while I was doing it! Several years ago I was already selling on Ebay and had come across the sweetest little bracelets for children. It wasn't long before I took my first "beading" class and was immediately hooked. My love for jewelry design began, and what was once more of a hobby and just a few boxes of beads, became a small at-home business with barely enough room for my ever-accumulating stash! (Who knew tiny little beads could take up so much space.) I am so fortunate to have a wonderful customer base with a continuous supply of new customers that constantly keep me "as busy as I want to be." That's a very nice feeling.
Now for the name . . . I feel very blessed to be a stay-at-home/work-at-home mom to my three fantastic children. Savannah is the oldest and the firstborn of course (we are so much alike!) Landon is my very funny little guy; the baby of the family . . . and then there is my sassy and sweet Emma . . . my middle child. I have come to the realization that a middle child is just that, a middle child. As much as we try to make sure she realizes she is special and unique, there truly is something about being a middle child that she just misses out on. My Emmie is the one who will give to her siblings so that they have, even if she doesn't. She is the one who will willingly "take the blame" even when it isn't her fault. She can't do "so-and-so" because she is still "too little", but she can't do "that" because she is too big. Sooooo . . . I knew that my little business had to have her name attached to it so that one day, she could ask me why I named my business after her and I could tell her it was because I love her soooooo much! So you see, it was quite simple; Emmie-Lou Designs was born into existence from one small girl with a grin from ear-to-ear who makes my world go round-and-round!
With every design, I try to bring you something unique. Many of you will notice this year, that I am not only doing children's jewelry, but I also offer ladies jewelry as well. I am very excited about this!
Thanks so much for stopping by to learn a little bit about me!
Sincerely,
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What kind of stringing wire do you use? I use a professional series stringing wire with 49 strands. This means that there are 49 miniature strands of stainless steel wire incorporated together in a protective, abrasion-resistant nylon coating that is made especially for bead stringing.
What if my bracelet breaks?
If you experience a breakage, please feel free to send it back in a padded envelope and I will re-string it for you at no additional charge if it is within 3 months of your purchase date. Otherwise, I charge $5.00 per strand, and I will cover the return shipping back to you.
How do I care for my jewelry? I recommend that your jewelry be removed before going to bed each night, and also before swimming or bathing to keep it looking its best. For cleaning, use a polishing cloth meant for sterling silver, and keep your jewelry in a jewelry box or enclosed container when it is not being worn. This will prevent it from tarnishing. I do not recommend using harsh cleaners as this can damage pearls and other gemstones.
What about the clay beads, can they break? I love using the clay beads, especially in my holiday and seasonal bracelets. They are a lot of fun! All of my clay beads have been handcrafted by a select few of my favorite clay bead artists and I am picky! They are made from a durable polymer clay and are quite strong, but they can be broken if for example they are stepped on or bitten so do keep that in mind. If they need cleaning, a bit of mild soap and water will have them looking great again!
How do I determine what size bracelet I need? If you know the size you need, you may choose the proper size at the drop-down box when ordering. If you don't know what size you need, or you are not sure, then providing a wrist measurement is best. You can do this by taking a soft measuring tape and wrapping it snuggly, but not tightly around the wrist. If you do not have a measuring tape, you can also take a piece of string or ribbon, do the same thing, and then measure it against a ruler for the proper length. Then, just provide me with the wrist measurement and I will do the rest. (Please do not add any extra other then the exact length or else the bracelet will not fit properly.) If this is for a gift and you are "just not sure", then please feel free to email me and we can figure it out together.
Is your jewelry safe for babies?
I make jewelry for all ages but no piece of jewelry is unbreakable, so please use caution when children are wearing ANY KIND OF JEWELRY. A child under 3 years of age should never be left alone at any time while wearing jewelry. My jewelry pieces do contain small parts so I highly recommend always removing their jewelry during naptime, bedtime or anytime they are not being supervised. Safety is my number one concern.
How will my order be sent? I generally ship all of my orders via the USPS postal service. Within the United States, you can choose First Class for $2.50, which includes Delivery Confirmation, or Priority Mail for $4.00 which also includes Delivery Confirmation. Priority mail has a general (but not guaranteed) arrival date of 2-3 days. If you would like insurance, (and I do recommend this), you may add $1.30 for all orders up to $50.00, or $2.20 for orders up to $100.00.
How fast can I get my order? I try to work on orders as quickly as I can once payment is received. I like to have my orders done in a 2-3 day time span but because I lovingly create each design myself, I do ask that you allow at least a week. If you need something right away, let me know and I will do my very best to accomodate you! Occasionally I may be out of stock on something, but I will always let you know and keep you up-to-date on your order.
Do you accept custom orders? Yes! I love to do custom orders as time allows, and most of the time I can. However, sometimes life gets crazy so if I can't accept your order at that time, or by the time you need it, I will let you know!
Every web purchase receives a FREE GIFT from me, just to let you know how very special you are!
