 Hello - my name is Jim Simpson (eBay handle 'tigerowner'). I have been buying and selling minerals on eBay since September 2000, upon retiring from the "real" work force. I count myself quite successful in this endeavor: my collection is more focused and organized than it was previously, I've made a lot of new friends (both customers and vendors), and had a lot of fun!

As for a few personal data, I am married to a VERY patient non-rock person, have a special collection of children and grandchildren, and yes, I do own a Tiger - the four-wheeled variety, not four-footed. I haven't specialized my mineral collection, so if you are looking for something specific, or are interested in swapping for new material, please send me an email at tigerowner@gmail.com - I may have what you're looking for in my basement!

It's all about the rocks!

Like many other sellers on eBay and other rockhounds, I sell mineral specimens to support my hobby, not pay for the necessities of life; the proceeds from my eBay sales wouldn't keep me in cat food (well, we do have two cats....)! From one standpoint, eBay is really more like a club swap meet, with money as just a convenient exchange medium. Many of the specimens I've sold here have been purchased either on eBay or directly from other collectors or dealers; some are tigerowner "originals" - I do actually get to dig a few from time to time.

My future goals for this endeavor involve combining this hobby with another - woodworking. I hope to build custom illuminated display stands and offer them for sale to collectors, with and/or without specimens. I have a website where I offer mineral specimens and will eventually offer custom stands for sale; if you'd like to check out its progress (or lack thereof), here's a URL that will get you there:
