Is that newly released Louis Vuitton Monogram Denim Speedy Neo you just purchased really authentic? A few things to look for...

1. Make sure the Denim Monogram LV Sheet of Material the bag is made from is one continuous sheet from front to back. That means that the LV's will be right side up on the front and upside down on the back of your purse! Just remember; the LV's will never be "cut off".

2. Make sure the interior embossed leather label has the correct font, font size and wording and is sewn to the front of the back pouch pocket! The label should read as follows -- on the top row it should have the registered mark (R surrounded by a circle); the next row in all caps should read LOUIS VUITTON - all caps; next line should read PARIS in all caps; the last line should read "made in France". Only France should be capitalized. The interior should be lined in gold ultrasuede material.

3. Yes, this is a Speedy; but unlike the other Speedy's made by Louis Vuitton; it does not come in a variety of sizes like the 25 or 30. Therefore; there should be NO NUMBER stamped under either zipper leaf. In addition, there should be NOTHING embossed on the top of either leaf. Both should be blank and have no number stamped under. If your bag does; it is NOT authentic. Make sure you ASK your seller this important question!

4. Where the material and leather trim meet -- on both the front and the back -- the material should be completely straight! There should be no cut off LV's either!

5. The front pockets; with the push locks; should be lined (on the inside of the pocket) on the back and front with the same denim monogram material as the outside of the pocket. The underneath part of the flap and the very bottom should be solid denim material with no monograms. The push locks should ONLY have the registered trademark (LV in a circle) stamped between the two top screws. There should be no other writing on the push locks! If there is -- it is a fake! The screws holding the bottom part of the push lock; on the inside of the pocket should be 6 point! Not 4 or 5; but 6!

6. The denim should have a distressed look about it (especially around the edges of the pockets and sides of the bag) and the stitching is yellow -- not a dark yellow.

7. There are NO feet on the bottom of the Speedy Neo.

8. Each zipper should have Louis Vuitton written in a circle. Louis on top -- Vuitton on the bottom -- all caps -- no holes.

9. There should be no leather trim around the edges of the bag or along the bottom.

10. If you see a large dark yellow "authenticity card" in or with a dark gray envelope -- RUN. There is no such thing as large dark yellow "authenticity card". Louis Vuitton bags do come with tags; but they are light yellow and oblong in shape. If you see a leather tag hanging from a string or a ivory plastic circle tag with LV written on the circle with a price tag hanging from a string; RUN -- another sure sign the bag is a fake!

11. The interior of the front zippered pocket should be lined in plain denim material -- no logos. The datecode should be embossed --- not stamped with ink. I will not be putting the location of the date code; it aids in the production of counterfeit bags.

Just remember that this bag retails for $1280! There is a three to four month waiting list for this bag that will just get longer as the holidays approach. If you see this bag listed for only a couple of hundred dollars -- RUN! It cannot be authentic. Always ask which Louis Vuitton boutique your seller bought the bag. If they say they got it from a "manufacturer's rep or a distributor -- RUN! Louis Vuitton only sells their products in their own boutiques; at high end department stores like Saks or Bloomingdales; or on line at eluxury.com. You will not find authentic bags ANYWHERE ELSE!

Remember that receipts can also be counterfeited! You can buy them on line. Make sure that if you buy a bag that comes "with a receipt" tell your seller that you will be calling the boutique where the receipt came from to verify the receipt is real!
