Each artist uses their own techniques and personalities to bring to "life" a doll, thus making each one, an original one of a kind. My GoalI spend days, sometimes weeks, creating each baby. It is a very intensive process that involves disassembling a baby doll, removing factory paints, sanding the head, replacing the body, replacing the eyes, painting on multiple layers of Genesis Heat Set paints(which are permanent), micro rooting the hair(which takes the most time),selecting the layette, weighting to body to perfection, photographing to capture the correct color of the baby. The hours spent are endless. It is truly a labor of love! The results produce a lifelike baby that can be treasured and passed down through generations. Over the years, I have looked at infant skin tones from a 24 week gestation newborn with the shiny transparent skin , to the growing preemie with the visible veins, but lanky limbs with no fat. Also the newborns with a full head of hair and blotchy skin tone to the bald baby with peaches and cream complexion. I've paid close attention to the forcep marks from a difficult delivery, to the jaundiced, yellow skin (that a lot of breast fed babies have), to the scratched faces babies make due to the need to make contact--and their face is the closest thing. I try to portay this look , and features in each baby I create. Each one is different, just like each newborn is different. Choosing a nursery name is very important as it establishes an artist's identity, and over time, a reputation in the reborn community. It is very important for each new artist to research available nursery names before choosing one so not to "impose" on another artist's identity and reputation. MOHAIR Mohair is all the same.....Right? NO.. In order to make a baby with realistic hair, you must have quality mohair. Due to having, myself, purchased high quality...and not so high quality mohair. I decided to do it myself. We have a small farm and I purchased a small herd of Angora goats(the hair that reborn babies are rooted from). The goats are not treated as regular meat goats or "yard goats". They are more finicky--like sheep and have to have special conditions for living and producing quality fiber.. Our goats are properly fed , not only hay but proper feed with vitamins , in order to produe a high quality coat. They have proper shelter to get out of the rain and grassy fields to lie in , instead of dirt(which would make nasty hair!) THink about if, a human has a poor diet, they end up having dull, lack-luster hair . It is the same with the goats. They have to have the proper nutrients, and vitamins, in order to produce high quality, shiny hair. When shearing, I use only first cuts, and hand select each lock. It is then combed, dyed(using acid dyes approved for mohair) , conditioned then , again, hand selected for the finest locks in which to micro-root hair. Only the select locks are chosen by me to use on my babies, and to sell to other reborn artists. Children & Adult Clothing: All items come from a smoke-free home. All clothing has been freshly laundered, and ironed, if needed, before shipping. Photographs can sometimes show spots or discolorations. I am extremely picky and examine each item carefully for any stains, flaws, picks, etc. I will mention even the smallest flaw, even if not noticeable unless knowing where to look for it. I do not sell anything that I would not put on my own children. I am human, and if an error is made, please notify me prior to leaving feedback and I will try to remedy the situation. **Please note: Computer monitors show colors differently. If I list something as "navy blue" and your monitor shows it as purple. Please bid according to the description given. If in doubt, please email me. I will gladly combine shipping on auctions. !!
