BRAGGING ABOUT RASMUS?
March 2007: Now to brag a little about my family in the process. My father came from a large family and my mother did too. I managed to have 5 sons and my oldest son, Tony IV has had 4 sons. He played for the California Angels Minor League system for 3 years and then slipped into obscurity. He and his wife (Robin) devoted their time to being great parents.
My son took two of my grand children to the Little League World Series and won in 1999 in the American finals.
They lost to Japan in the final game. Time passed on. My son and his wife became school teachers. They obviously did not want to live the life of luxury either. My son and his wife continued to be the parents you dream about being. My grandsons grew up. It is now 2007.
My son coaches the Russell County (Alabama) High School baseball team which now includes all 4 of my grandsons on the team. They ended the season as the number one High School Team in the United States.
2005
High School Team of the Year. Check out your Baseball America and your US Today and the web. Look for Colby Rasmus or Cory Rasmus or Tony Rasmus. Talk about being a proud grandfather. We listen to the scouts and the coaches and the media hype the game and we can only hope that some of what they are saying is true. Colby just might be a first round draft pick.
Now for the update on the draft. Colby went number 27 to the St. Louis
Cardinals. You can follow his exploits on the Minor League Palm Beach Site.
Here is his page.
Colby What a dream. What a life. You live one day at a time and then some days are sure a lot better than others. I can only say Anthony Robert Rasmus IV, "You Did a Good Job, Son." With a lot of help from Robin. I also have to tip my hat to my grandsons. You really can be what you want to be or what you work hard to be. You can catch some of our family at our web site at
Rasmus.biz. You can write to us if you like. Make it fast. When the boys become big league stars I will probably not be here at the computer anymore, I plan to be at the games. The next star in the Rasmus Lineup is Cory Rasmus. He
went to the Atlanta Braves in the first round supplemental. I hope I can talk the boys into sending their poor old grandfather a ticket. The problem is they might end up like their dad who took after his dad. They just might forget to call or answer the telephone or come by for a visit. The irony of life I presume. They have several country songs about this problem.
Maybe the father will pay attention to the lyrics of the songs before it becomes reality. lol
Son #2 Christopher. Has participated in the reproduction of 3 lovely
talented granddaughters. Maybe he is trying to be the #1 family member
for female propagation. Check them out in the Rasmus site. Son #3
Tad. He has one lovely son and is currently pursuing his dream of
being unproductive. Sounds like his dad. Son #4 Nik. Living on
the lake in Keystone Heights and trying to figure out what to do with his
life.
Son #5 Tori. Living the good life as his daddy's boy. Reaches
the ripe old age of 6 this week. Enjoying the socialization of
Kindergarten and learning to read. He is a big part of the Rasmus
site.
