I've been a member of ebay since 2001, when I was working as a Technical Writer for a medical supply company. A few months later, I found myself laid off, and decided to take some time off and do some writing. BAM! The next thing I knew, I was in the hospital emergency room fighting for breath. Seems that the breast cancer I thought I'd licked in 1995 was back -- and busy stirring up trouble in my lungs.
Many months later, needing something to occupy my brain while the rest of me recuperated, I decided to try out this ebay selling thing. My friend & I had a blast tracking down estate sale bargains in Cincinnati's old neighborhoods. I've sold everything from antique sewing patterns to giant Spongebob pillows. Opening my own ebay store was the next step. Using my background in graphic arts, I designed a coordinated auction template and look for my store, Chickadee Curios. Being a perfectionist, I wanted something stylish, visually appealing and practical. Even an old Coke bottle needs to be properly displayed.
My store has expanded to include Italian religious goods, Pope John Paul II memorabilia, Christmas display stands, and imported glass ornaments. And finally, to indulge my ebay-acquired love of vintage table top displays, I've opened my own web site: www.enchanteddecor.com. Sparkling mica paper houses, white natural-design ornament trees, vintage-inspired Christmas ornaments and display stands of all kinds are just a few of the products. My husband Rick has been a huge help with putting the nuts and bolts of the operation together. Here we are with some of our Halloween, Christmas and Easter items (notice the gorgeous Cody Foster mica church in the center of the display!) I'm thrilled to also offer vintage-designer Bethany Lowe creations, especially her gorgeous feather trees. Shoppers will be able to create their own charming miniature displays, with little paper mache trees, painted wooden houses, and votive candle lamps. Click on the links below to see all my great stuff!
For the craft-minded, there are antique-style paper ornament kits, and a monthly newletter with seasonal design ideas and templates. You'll also find a great interactive Halloween ebook, co-written by my partner, Mark O'Neill, and a book of historic Christian Angel Prayers. My adventures in medicine continue (check out my summer-friendly short do), but God and his helpers are keeping me right here on Earth. And in tribute to the strong, take-a-licking-and-keep-on-ticking women in my family, I donate half the proceeds from my Pink Ribbon Ornament store sales to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Check out my auctions during the coming holidays for special bundled sets of feather trees, display stands and ornaments from Bethany Lowe, Cody Foster, K. D. Vintage, Department 56 and other designers.
