Ryan

Hello everyone!  My name is Tara and I am the proud mother of three terrific boys.  My second born, Ryan, was born in 2000 and met all the milestones until about 18 months old.  Then he lost his language, imagination, ability to share his experiences and regressed into his own world.  He was diagnosed with Autism at age 2 ½.

He began an ABA (applied behavior analysis) program before turning 3.  Ryan is now 8 years old and spends at least seven hours a day in some type of therapy.  (ABA, Speech, OT, Music, RDI)  He is making excellent progress.  We saw a DAN (defeat autism now) Doctor and tried several things such as Chelation, Vitamin B12 shots, and Trimethylglycine.   I will do anything to help Ryan overcome Autism. 

I started selling items on eBay to raise awareness and continue to sell them to also fund the therapies and the DAN doctor which is not covered under insurance.  I spend a lot of time educating people about Autism and hope someday there will be a cure.  Unlike Downs Syndrome, there isn’t any distinct facial features that let strangers know a child has Autism.  As you can see from Ryan’s photo he looks like any typical boy.  So in public when Ryan behaves oddly I educate as many people as I can.
