Big Joe's World

Hey there and thanks for coming over and trying to find out a little bit more about me. A quick run-through should bring you up to date. I live just a few short blocks from Wrigley Field, the home of the Chicago Cubs.

My collecting interests run through several genres and spectrums. I was very interested in autographs at one point in my life and have roughly 50 or so different autographs ranging from Hall of Famers like Lou Brock, Billy Williams, Ernie Banks to not quite worthy of having the autograph in the first place guys. That lit inlcudes what, I believe to be, former Cubs bullpern catcher George Parker. Interestingly enough he shares his autograph on my official little league baseball with Mark Grace. My favorite pieces are framed autographed photos of Don Larsen's perfect game in the 1956 World Series and Bobby Thompson's "Shot Heard Round the World." More recently, since I moved to Wrigleyville, I've gotten into collecting Cubs memoribilia. I have boxes and boxes of pocket schedules, give away items, newspapers, merchandise and on and on with the Cubs logo on it. Even more recently I've gotten into collecting currency. Mostly current stuff that I find in circulation or that my friends at bank I used to work at get for me. All in all these hobbies keep me busy on Ebay, mostly selling what I have extra of.

Life Outside the Bay

What do I do with myself outside of the world of Ebay. I'm a huge fan of Loyola Ramblers basketball. There are very few of us still in existence, but one day we will rise again. For those of you that don't know, Loyola was once among the powers in college basketball, winning the national title in 1963 and then reaching the sweet 16 in 1985. Since 1985 the Ramblers have had one winning season and have failed to even reach the NCAA tournament. Attendance is barely over 2000 per home game now, but I still maintain hope. If nothing else it gives some of us fans reasons to go drinking on Wednesday nights and take road trips to mid-western cities and drink there.
