Windhorse Studio.....

Amethyst Pond, Teahouse....where artists create.....

Welcome to Windhorse Studio...                                                                                                                                                      We are directly descendant Swedish artists & seafarers from Visby, Gotland, magical island known as Pearl of the Baltic.  Our Grandmothers were artists of all that is wool, every genre in knit, crochet, needlepoint, tatting, done to perfection.  They masterfully knit sweaters typical of Scandinavian design, intricate creatures & snowflakes, lace edgings & buttonholes.  My first position out of university was in an art supply studio, Easel & Loom, where I learned to weave...later teaching other family members the loveliness of looms. So many decades have gone by; Grama's linens and lace are part of our everyday life.  An exquisite needlepoint on linen done in 1874 by my Great Grandmother is one of our favourite wall treasures.  The Leclerc floor loom once loved by my Mother is now in the loft we call Windhorse Studio.   My children spend Studio hours learning fine art, an old fashioned upbringing, knowing the satisfaction of working with one's hands.

Winter season of handwoven rugs.....

Over the years, I’ve worked in fine arts as watercolourist & serigrapher for various professional studios.  My specialty being 18th and 19th century art...I've repaired murals, integrated artwork design as part of everyday living spaces, done a slight tango with portraiture...a mèlange of playful art innovation over a lifetime.  A few years ago married a traditional cattleman, then retired from Eyvind Earle Studios to set about raising my lovely two boys in a spellbound rural setting.  We enjoy gardens, waterfowl pets, vintage books, wooden boating, travelling for our studies, & creating artwork....spending an especially lot of time weaving on the Leclerc.  Rain Forest Edition rug collection sold out this fall; the latest Edition, Mossy Rock, is currently in production.  With an endless daily measure of tales revolving around childlife & wildlife friends, I'm slowly writing a children's book, my first endeavor as author.  So please, imagine yourself in Teahouse, watching our flock of geese, enjoying colourful gardens, book & teacup in hand.

Whoever said, 'Life begins at forty.....' was certainly a wise person.
