    University of Nebraska Surplus Ebay Sales was started in 2001 as a way to provide goods no longer useful to the University to the general public. Rather than gathering dust in warehouses, now valuable equipment can be useful again to public buyers and recover significant revenue to the University.

    As any other department of any university, we are a not-for-profit department. This enables us to operate on a cost-recovery basis. Any net profit we are left with at the end of the year is returned to the departments which we sold for that year.

Shipping

    We usually ship out items within one business day. The University is closed on weekends and applicable state and federal holidays, and so we do not ship out items on these days.

Local Item Pickup

    When items are too large, or when the buyer is located near the University, we may be able to facilitate a local pickup. If we specify that an item is "Local Pickup Only" or you purchase an item and wish to pick it up at our office, please let us know well in advance so that we may make the appropriate arrangements. Also, please be mindful of the size and weight of any item(s) you will be picking up and bring an acceptable vehicle. Finally, please provide us with your full contact information and intended payment method.

Payment

 We accept payment through Pay pal, money orders and cashier checks only. Our Paypal address is unlsurplus@unlnotes.unl.edu. We do not accept cash, personal checks, or any other form of payment.


Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  Do we ship internationally?
A:  Yes!  We will ship to any country to which the USPS, UPS or DHL will provide service.  Additional shipping cost and time will usually apply, however.

Q:  If I live near Lincoln, Nebraska, can I come and pick up my item?
A:  Absolutely.  We love meeting our buyers in person, and local-pick-ups save both us and our buyers time and money.  Usually, we are available for local-pick-ups during normal business days, from 8 am to 4 pm.  If you cannot arrive between these times, please let us know, and we will do our best to accommodate you!

Q:  If I purchase multiple items, will you combine shipping?
A:  Usually, we will.  We will always configure our shipments of multiple items to be the least cost for shipping and materials--this means that sometimes your packages will arrive in several shipments, or sometimes they will arrive combined.  Either way, we will choose the method that will save you the most on shipping.

Q:  Will you freight items that are too large to ship via parcel carriers?
A:  Certainly.  We have just started working with a local company that will pallet or crate your items for a fee, and work with you on coordinating with a freight shipping company for item pickup.  We will provide details regarding freight shipping on the listing page of applicable items.

Q:  Will you accept any payment methods besides PayPal or US Postal Service certified checks?
A:  Unfortunately, no.  Under no circumstances will we accept payment using any money sending services or personal checks.  The extent of internet fraud has even forced us not to accept cashier checks from private banks--we simply have no way to determine if such checks are genuine or forged.  We only accept PayPal or US Postal Service as a way to protect both ourselves and our buyers.  If you have any questions about methods of payment, please contact us!
