eBay and Urban Pioneer Shopping Tips
1. Have your measurements handy. Sizing can differ dramatically from designer brands to mall brands to vintage items. Urban Pioneer lists all measurements and will give you any additional ones that you need.
Allow yourself an inch or two for comfort between what your tape measure says and what the item has listed.
2. Add Urban Pioneer to your Favorite Sellers list. You will get an email once a week to find out when new clothes have arrived.
3. Shop for evening gowns and vintage cashmere. Wear-once-and-never-be-seen-in-again items like gowns are likely to be fantastic deals. Older cashmere sweaters tend to be thicker and better quality than new ones.
4. Know what to fix and what to forget. Items that are too big, long or long-waisted can be easily tailored so grab them, but skip those that are too small, short or short-waisted.
Even if there’s enough fabric to lengthen a hem, there will be a telltale line if the fabric is worn at the hemline. Send me an ASQ if you would like to see pictures of the seams in a clothing item.
5. New items are usually available each week. New items tend to be listed Monday through Thursday evening to lure weekend shoppers.
6. Shop for the opposite season. You can get your best deals on winter clothes by shopping in the summer and your best deals on summer clothes by shopping in the winter. Check out the Urban Pioneer Clearance Rack!
7. Bargain, bargain, bargain! Prices are often negotiable - Look for BEST OFFER coming to all of our Fixed Price items coming soon!
8. Shop the Urban Pioneer on eBay, of course!
9. OK, OK, OK... Sale dates are generally mid month, end of the month and on national holidays. We run 75% sales every so often, too! Whoo Hooo!

About Sizing:
- Because manufacturer sizing differs, we provide measurements in all listings.
- If you're not sure about a size, compare the measurements to a similar piece of clothing you own.
- If an equivalent modern size is given on a vintage item, it's an educated guess based on this size chart.
- I do not accept returns based on size unless I have made an error in my measurements. If you feel this is the case, please refer to my return policy.
- Again, please take your measurements carefully.
Clothing Condition Explanation:
- NWT: New With Tags. This means an item is new, never worn or laundered and has the original hanging paper tags attached.
- NWOT: New Without Tags. This means an item is new, never worn or laundered but does not have the original hanging paper tags attached.
- Like New. This means I do not know if the item is new, but appears to have never been worn or laundered and is in otherwise new condition.
- Excellent. This means it has been worn and laundered and is in excellent condition.
- Very good. This means it has been worn and laundered and shows evidence of this. There will not be any stains, holes, rips or tears.
- Good or Play. This means there may be some stains, holes, rips or tears but there is plenty of life left in the item. Mostly refers to childrens clothing.
- Cutter. This means the item may be useful to someone who likes to do D.I.Y projects.
Return Policy:
- Urban Pioneer is a reseller of mostly used clothing, so we don't take returns. Please bid carefully. We are able to sell items as inexpensively as possible for this reason. We would hate to have to raise prices.
If you need more information before buying please email us. We want you to be happy with your purchase.
- OK, we'll take returns if we made a mistake in the listing. You will also receive shipping costs. Mistake in the listing means that the dress was listed as aqua blue and you received a lipstick red dress. It does not
mean the dress was listed as aqua blue and you think it's more of a turquoise blue.
This also means if we give the inseam measurement as 29 inches and it clearly measures at 32.
If you think it measures at 29.25 and want to return we're going to give you a big fat raspberry.
But seriously, if it's our mistake and we will gladly take the item back.
- Please let us know immediately that there is a problem.
- We will also take returns if "the item just isn't right" for any reason, but you will not receive shipping costs and there will be a 20% restocking fee. You may have received a pair of shoes and they just are not comfortable
or the color is more black-brown than true black to work for you. You may return them for that reason. However, it would probably be more cost effective for you to sell them using our pictures and description.
Just email us for help if you like. We're super friendly!
- Did you receive an item that had an undisclosed defect? A hole or a torn seam that wasn't mentioned in the listing. Let us know immediately and send pictures if you can so we can flog the appropriate employee.
We'll take your return if you'll accept our apology.
- Did the listing title say Mini Dress? Did the description say the dress was super short and you would probably want to wear leggings with it? Did we list the length of it as being 25 inches from waist to hem?
And so you bought it thinking the dress was going to come down to your ankles? No, we will not refund. And no we won't let you keep the dress for free. We will, however, give you a big fat raspberry.
- We will never tell you to keep the item AND give you a full refund. We're just not that nice. Oh we're super friendly but we're also in business to make money. We've got families and kids to support and taxes to pay
and we like to see the our postal carrier everyday. So nope - no free stuff from us. You do not get to keep your item and get a refund. You do, however, get a big fat raspberry.
- Please send an email to let us know that you will be sending the item back and provide the Delivery Confirmation tracking number.
- The item must arrive at the Urban Pioneer within ten (10) days of the shipping date.
- Returns received between 10 and 30 days after original ship date will be subject to a restock fee of 50%. There are absolutely no returns after 30 days.
- Buyer must agree to Mutual Cancellation or pay cost of all applicable PayPal and eBay fees.
Making a Payment:
- Terms of payment are PayPal and PayPal only. We love, LoVe, LOVE PayPal!
- Please make payment within seven (7) days of the auctions end. If you're not able to, please contact me and we'll make arrangements.
- A winning bid with Urban Pioneer is a sale. If you are the winning bidder, you are the buyer.
- If you intend to use PayPal, please note: we can not ship to an unconfirmed address. It is simple to do through PayPal. If you plan to use that
option, please confirm your address.
Shipping Information :
- When you win an Urban Pioneer auction, you can expect speedy service!
- The shipping costs are listed in each auction. The amount includes First Class and/or Priority Shipping with Delivery Confirmation. Multiple item wins are an additional $2 per item.
- Once your payment is cleared your item is carefully packaged and labeled according to the information you have provided.
- If you live here in Chicago and would like to pick up we can make arrangements to do that.
- International bidders are welcome - please email me so I can permit your bid! Most of our international customers like to use Air Letter Post or Global Priority mail.
We will provide you with the cost of either option.
- We combine shipping on multiple wins to save you money. When you are done shopping let me know and we will send you an invoice.
