Since far back crafts of Central Asia has merited good fame. The historical conditions, in which the culture of the people in Central Asia advanced, predetermined crafts a particular role. Over the centuries popular traditions have been created in techniques and art. Popular traditions of art are extremely stable, and, although they change along with the living conditions of the people, they have not lost their national content. The primary and indispensable condition for the further advancement and revival of crafts is to develop it in conformity with new tasks and needs.
Embroidery.The Uzbek embroidery has high art and decorative advantages.It is one of the most advanced crafts in Uzbekistan.This craft has deep communication with a life of people. Embroidered cloths are widely produced in Bukhara, Shakhrisabz and Tashkent plants. Gold embroidery is the finest kind of embroidery. This craft has always been applied in Bukhara. The other ancient craft in Uzbekistan is weaving. Its richest historical traditions have stayed with us hitherto.
Fabrics.
Designing fabrics is a remarkable phenomenon of popular art in Uzbekistan. It combines the fine traditions of ancient popular art with a true sense of the new. The art of designing fabrics reflects the periods of its complex century-old history, and gives a memorable description of the creative work of thousands of talented masters of art.
Ceramics.
In Central Asia ceramics of Uzbekistan hold a prominent place among the numerous forms of crafts. The first specimens of earthenware discovered in the republic go back to antiquities, and in all times the finest pieces of fancy ceramic articles brought to light with uncommon expressiveness and laconism the genuine traits of the creative genius of the people.
Chasing.
Chased articles were popular among the inhabitants of Central Asia since olden times. They were valued for their practical use and decorativeness. Chased-copper vessels were displayed on the shelves of open built-in cupboards as part of a living accommodation.
A local style of chasing has come into being during a long period, which is characterized by the distinctive shapes of the articles, as well as by the techniques and artistic methods.
Wood carving.
In Central Asia wood carving is executed on a wide range of objects - from massive beams for ceilings to tiny children's amulets. The development of this art in the past was linked up with ornamenting constructions and local architectural details, where the overlap post-and-beam system already presupposed using wooden materials on a large scale.
