ABOUT THE ARTIST
I am a full time professional
artist whose work ranges from the sublime and fantastic to modern
contemporary abstract. A commercial graphic artist for over 25
years, I honed many of my skills in the often cut throat arena
of independent graphic illustration, creating shirt designs, tattoo
flash,cd art, as well as magagzine and book illustrations. In
2001 I decided to leave the field of commercial art and devote
myself entirely to my own work. My art has been exhibited in
a variety of Northwest galleries and competitions as well as
being in numerous private collections across North America.
In 2002 I started selling art on Ebay as a self representing
artist. I found that I could connect with people actually looking
to buy art more quickly and on a larger scale through selling
on Ebay than being represented in galleries. I'm able to sell
directly to the collector, which is something I enjoy immensely.
ARTIST
BIO
I have been drawing
and painting as long as I can remember. My mother was a landscape
painter and always encouraged me to be creative and to try new
techniques. By the time I left high school I was playing music
in bands and creating posters and t-shirts to sell for the musical
groups I was in, all the while painting and doing various sculpture
work on the side. Eventually I landed a job at a screen printing
company who needed an artist for preproduction work . Creating
designs and getting them ready for production. I was also doing
layout and illustration work for various small publications and
record companies. In my off hours I worked in a small studio
where I could escape and create art of my own choosing, using
found materials and various mixed media. In time I decided to
leave the graphic arts field and concentrate entirely on my own
work. This has been one of the most challenging and enjoyable
periods of my artistic career.
ABOUT
MY ART
I grew up in
a very religious family and though I have secular beliefs, I
find that the concepts of theology and the struggle of the human
spirit to be quite fascinating. The battle of good against evil,
the clash of ideologies, conflict and the whole tribal competitiveness
that is man. These are the underlying themes that flow out of
my work. For about the last 2 years I have been working and experimenting
in abstract expressionism. Learning to use texture and form and
color to create strong and interesting art. No matter what I
do I will always be making strong statements. Art is not for
the weak and creation is always tough work, but I wouldn't have
it any other way. It's what I do. It's what I am.
