Halcyon Systems & Salvagers

* From Yesteryears' Computers - Today - through Tomorrow and Beyond! *

Welcome to my Domain!

Greetings and fillicitations and welcome to my personal eBay site supporting Halcyon Systems & Salvagers... Welcome to a new era in computing for tomorrow and beyond! We wish to bring in the new year with a new name! So say hello if you wish and thanks for coming by... I have a vast knowledge of computers and PC technology and have amassed quite an inventory of odds and ends which are computer related to be sure! From time to time I will be offering something special or something outrageous. Please feel free to email me if you're looking for something special or hard to find, I just may have it... Here is a list of the very first computers I've ever used from the early 1980s: I started out with the TI99/4A and bought/grabbed every gane I could find that would work with the machine including cartridge and software on cassette! Then came the Coleco ADAM computer, the cool console which included the Colecovision game module that was connected directly to the computer section, made up as a one piece complete system. You could use cartridge based software or data drive (cassette) media or even floppy based software, since the computer uses a Z80 processor you could run the CP/M OS on the system plus apps aswell! You can program using either the Z80 chip or the Colecovision processor, that's right this baby has 2 internal cpus! Next came the Tandy 1000SX which gave me my first taste of an IBM compatible computer! I had PC-GEOS running on this machine and spent a small fortune upgrading it!

Halcyon Systems & Salvagers

Welcome to a new era in computing for the rest of us, we are celebrating the advent of our new name to bring in the new year and a new era in computing and ALL are welcome! Say hello if you can, we would really appreciate it! I have amassed a great collection of unique little curiousities down through the years and hope to offer a peak of what's available soon on Ebay! I've gathered some unusual items mostly where computers are concerned like the extremely odd Silicon Graphics Indigo Iris and the HP Apollo Series 700 monstrosity with a unique looking front panel to some Coleco Adams and such, I hope to create a fairly complete list from collections in the near future. I will post from time to time under the auspices of my online organization known as "Halcyon Systems & Salvagers", all are welcome! A recent acquisition has compelled me to list it here because of it's importance regarding the history of computers and it's had a long history; The NeXT Cube Computer has recently been added to my collection which is fully functional of course and interestingly enough I have been picking things related to the NeXT computer left and right lately! Also, I now have the THEOS-32 OS with a very thick manual on it's operation and yes it works on INTEL based PCs! Most recent acquisitions: as of February, 2005; CTX Neutopia (AMD K6-2 366 based) system, Sony VAIO (Intel Pentium 200-MMX-Updated) system, and an A-TOP "X-Blade" gamer's case that was thrown in the trash! A great candidate for an upcoming system I will be building in the near future featuring the SkyOS as well!

I have started an ambitious development environment involving a cluster of computing systems in a fully networked area with modularity as it's basis! Each computer comprises a different Operating System and or multiple OSes in the environment, this virtual association is known as "The OS Research Lab"! And the systems being deployed are not all IBM compatibles, I have an IBM RS/6000 250 (PowerPC), a NeXT station (NeXTStep 3.2), an HP Apollo Series 700 system, and two Silicon Graphics units (INDY & IRIS INDIGO) will be operational in the near future! Operating environments include: Windows 95 [OSR2], Windows 98 [SE], Windows ME Millennium Edition, Windows 2000 Advanced Server, Windows XP Professional, Xandros Desktop OS 2, Slackware Linux 8.1, Progeny Debian Linux 2.2, QNX RTOS, BEOS Pro 5.03, NeXTstep 3.2, 3.3; OpenStep 4.1, 4.2; IBM OS/2 Warp server 4, Windows NT 4 Server, IRIX 6.2 atleast when SGI systems are ready! *****

From my many worlds of wonder and beyond the veil of normal experience, I have gazed upon the vastness of space and time from the Glass-Domed sky base of my world window dream-quest tower!

Tech Tip #666

Windows 98 [SE] loads fine until you reach the desktop and login window! You login and everything looks ok until the infamous blue-screen-of-death appears! A warning indicates too many VXDs are being loaded and several failed to load! The error lists not enough MinSPs available, normal MinSP is set to 4 as the default! But the problem is Windows suggests looking in System.Ini for the reference to MinSP but surprise there isn't any! This little inconvenience can be alleviated by simply inserting the statement: "MinSP=n" anywhere in the System.Ini file located in the main Windows folder! Where "n" is the value you've assigned, example; "MinSP=25" is my default setting. That solves the problem, it's not brain surgery but close to it!
