I'm a pretty
easy-going seller, but I do have a few rules I work by:
- For auctions, I expect
payment within 2 weeks of auction close. If circumstances prevent this
from happening, please let me know as soon as possible to avoid a
misunderstanding.
- Returns due to a
material difference in the stated description of the item will be
refunded in full if initiated within 3 days of receipt of book. Returns due to a change of heart or failure to fully
read a description before purchasing are refundable for the
purchase price only (shipping is not refundable) if initiated within 3 days of receipt of book. Software, CD's, DVD's, and music in general are not returnable due
to piracy issues. Title to any goods does not transfer from the seller until payment is received in full.
I don't believe
a positive eBay/Half experience rests only with a buyer's satisfaction
of the product - I believe it rests with the entire experience, which
includes how both parties choose to handle any problems that arise.
Buyers who leave poor feedback without first coming to me with their
problem and giving me the opportunity to fix it are not buyers I want to
do business with!
- I use some form of
delivery confirmation on every eBay package I send out, the exception being on international packages. There is currently no reasonably affordable method of tracking international packages (the cheapest current method runs about $30 for an average-sized book). To date, I've never had an international package fail to arrive, although some have taken quite a bit longer to arrive than the post office estimated. I'm happy to ship your item internationally, but Vivarte Books cannot be responsible for any international packages which are lost or damaged by the postal system.
If an item becomes damaged
during shipping, please let me know within 48 hours of receipt so we can
work out a remedy. If an item becomes lost during shipping, your
purchase price and shipping will be refunded (after 3 weeks for Priority
mail packages, and after 6 weeks for Media mail packages to accommodate
for a glitch in the postal system). This does not apply to
packages for which we have proof of delivery.
Please note that Half.com sets the shipping prices,
not the sellers, so if you have a beef with what you've been charged,
please talk to Half!
- Shipping charges can be
a sensitive topic - I usually include in my shipping quotes charges for
materials, handling, and overhead - these include charges for me to
maintain a supply of padded book mailers, packing tape, bubble wrap and
peanuts, printer ink, labels, paper, etc. These charges are usually 50
cents to $1.00.
- Non-paying bidders are
not just an annoyance, they're time- and money-wasters. I pursue
non-paying bidders aggressively.
