At Wally's Discount Golf Shops, Wally Arbuckle, known as "Gator" to his friends, has seen the golf retail business change significantly over the last thirty years. Originally trading and selling golf clubs out of his garage in the 60's, Wally officially began his Dallas based business in 1970 when the term "state of the art" in golf clubs meant quality persimmon woods and premium forged irons. He has made his business from a successful green grass operation with two driving ranges, to one of the top independently owned golf specialty retailers in the country with six locations exclusively in the Dallas metroplex. One thing, however, has not changed throughout the years. Wally's Discount Golf still offers a great selection of only name brand pro-line products at aggressively competitive prices. Over the years, one of Wally's favorite comments has been: "We're not making money, we're just making friends." Humorous and personable, this attitude reflects the company's belief that it caters to golfers better than the "super store" operations. "Golfers are social shoppers and enjoy the service and personal attention they receive in our stores."
