Welcome To My Auctions... My name is Susan and I am a 43 year old artist and stay at home Mom who is fulfilling a lifelong dream...creating and selling my own handcrafted, Native American inspired Medicine & Tobacco bags and stone, clay & Sterling fetishes (My very favorite that I have created is my Dalmation Jasper bear in the pic to the right). My creations are crafted of natural materials from the earth, many gathered by myself, such as bones, rock and feathers. Purchased materials include high quality deer, elk, cow and buffalo hides, many various furs, turquoise, coral, natural stone/gemstone, shell, glass trade & Crow beads and feathers. I refuse to use poor quality materials and my pieces should reflect this. I also offer unique, quality vintage treasures that I find along the way. How It All Started... It actually all began right here on the auctions and snowballed into me realizing my dream at the age of 34. I started out by "shopping" around on eBay and Yahoo for gemstones for myself. This led me to finding rocks and minerals which I have always had a passion for. This in turn led to Native American fetishes, which led to ALL things Native American. I have always strongly felt in my heart that I am Native American myself, so have always had a deep personal interest. I decided that I wanted to be able to be my own boss and with my extensive art background and retail experience it was only natural to do exactly that. I purchased the necessary supplies and began (without training) creating my bags. It came so naturally to me that I started to research my heritage to see if this was more than a coincidence. I feel as if I have finally found my place in this world and am very happy to be able to share my creations with others. **UPDATE** June 2007 ~ I recently had my DNA tested through DNA Tribes and my results have come back with positive Native American/Amerindian ancestry. I am mostly Euro Mutt, but also blessed to have Mayan (Ch'ol), Puna, Otomi and Apache (Chiricahua Region). I will be researching and learning all that I can about each of these tribes and integrating the knowledge into my future designs & beadwork. |
