I began showing my work at galleries, stores, and at art festivals in 1995.  I actively exhibit my work in both private and juried shows and have won many awards.  I hope to paint for another 30 years.  I love to play with light and color. 

I think am drawn to transparent watercolor because of the whites--It is the only medium where the white doesn't look dead, flat and lifeless.  When you paint in transparent watercolor the only white you use is the paper showing through the other pigments.  I believe that the transparent quality brings life to the subject that cannot be achieved through the use of other mediums.  The way the pigment moves with water and reacts with other pigments provides a spontaneity that creates an atmosphere of endless possibility and excitement.  I find excitement in never being quite able to grasp control and complete knowledge of the subject I am pursuing.  I feel like I can pursue the quest of watercolor every day for the rest of my life and still find more meaningful and dramatic ways to express myself. 

Tom Lynch has provided invaluable instruction and continues to be an influence, along with Skip Lawrence (through "Palette" magazine).  I greatly admire the paintings and philosophy of W.M. Turner and the teachings of Robert Henri as conveyed through "The Art Spirit," and am forever thankful to Joe Miller (Cheap Joe's Art Supply) for providing one central source of supplies and some pretty darn good pigments. 

Ebay is a valuable part of my painting experience because it enables me to post an image immediately after painting it and receive instant feedback.  I can correspond with people from all over the world about my art and the subjects I've chosen.  It has moved my art in directions I may not have taken and has provided both monetary and peer support.  It opens up a world of possibilities.

Because it is an auction site, I sell my more expensive original paintings in galleries, but will post them in my ebay store upon request.  If you see a print you like and might be interested in the original, email me.   All images are available in 8x10 or 11x14 size.  I also sell cards and magnets of all images and will post them upon request.
