My Name Is Sue Wild...

I live in Northern California with my wonderful husband, two awesome, awesome kids and many pets. Our children and animals keep things hopping... but they bring lots of love, into our busy and creative home. Our Dachshund and Amazon Parrot, are usually with me while I paint... and I often have a squirrel, watching me through the window. Our squirrel's name is Stella and we raised her (you may read Stella & Scooter's Squirrel Story below).

I earned a Bachelors degree in Illustration, at The Academy of Art in San Francisco. I specialize in florals and wildlife (in ACEO sizes and larger). My work has been sold at art shows in Northern California and my florals have been professionally marketed, on greeting cards across the United States.

My artwork is rich, bright and crisp! I take pride in my art and I never sell pieces, that I don't love. I work primarily in watercolor... often using acrylics or Prismacolor pencils on top. My Giclee prints are very high quality, rated to last over 100 years. They're printed on my Epson Stylus Photo R1800 Printer with Ultrachrome Premium Inks for superior, archive quality images.

I began selling my artwork on eBay, a couple years ago. I love the excitement of the auctions and I often keep in touch with my buyers. I'm a member of several eBay groups, where I enjoy a community of fabulous eBay artists and collectors. Sometimes I participate in group projects or contests and I have won several awards. Stella & Scooter's Squirrel Story...

About four years ago, on a sunny day in early Fall... my daughter and I heard a strange shrieking sound in our yard. We were convinced it was an injured hawk... but when we searched, we found a tiny grey baby Cat Squirrel (nicknamed for their soft purr). He was hanging in some bushes, low to the ground. Although he was only a few inches long, he made an incredibly BIG noise!

I picked him up and he instantly clung to my shirt, so we took him inside and put him in a warm dark place. I tried to call the local Wild Animal Rescue, but they were closed for a holiday. In the meantime, we heard more Squirrel screams, coming from our yard!

The noise seemed to be coming from one of our trees and we spotted the Squirrel's nest, high-up in it's branches. The other baby Squirrel was out of reach, so we went inside and waited... hoping the mother would return. As the day turned to night, the screams continued. My daughter finally sat under the tree and said she would not move, until we called the fire department!

We wanted to help the baby Squirrel, so I got a strong flashlight and shined it up into the tree. To our AMAZEMENT, we heard a rustling of leaves and this tiny little black, bat-like creature came crawling down the trunk of the tree... right to me! It was one of those unbelievable moments.

I gently picked her off the trunk and put her on my shirt, where she instantly started purring. My daughter named her Stella after Stellaluna (the children's book about a bat). Needless to say... my daughter and I were instantly in love, with these two little Cat Squirrels!

We used the instructions from the Animal Rescue website, to feed and care for them. They devoured goats milk several times a day and grew very quickly. Between feedings... they would run around us (like we were trees) and leap from one person to the next. It was a bit crazy! After several weeks... we stopped handling them and started to acclimate them to the outdoors.

Eventually, the sad day came when we had to release them. They came back to their cage for several nights... then, they finally found the courage to venture out on their own. Stella (the black squirrel) still lives in our yard and in 2008, she had her own babies! She still comes to our window to see what I'm up to and she'll sit near me on the fence and purr, when I'm in the yard. Her favorite pastime, seems to be planting new Oak trees in our yard. As for Scooter... he comes and goes, like all males do... ;-)

"ACEO" Stands for :  Art Cards - Editions and Originals

Historically... Artist Trading Cards (or ATC's), were 2.5" x 3.5" original works of art (traded only amongst artists). An ACEO is exactly the same thing, but they are intended for sale rather than trade. The ACEO acronym was created, to separate ACEOs from ATC's... out of respect for those who believe that ATC's should be for trade only. ACEOs provide a venue for artists to sell their small works and for the public (including non-artists) to collect these wee masterpieces.

ACEOs have one main rule... they measure 2.5" x 3.5" (the size of a standard trading card or ATC). They are always this size, no exceptions. These highly collectible cards are as varied in theme, composition and materials as are larger works of art. They will fit in most trading card albums, sleeves and frames... which makes them easy to handle, display, trade or store. ACEOs are a fun and affordable way, to collect and trade original works of art!

ACEOs may be Originals (paintings, drawings, etc...) or they may be Editions (limited or open edition prints). Make sure you read the item listing carefully and know whether you will be buying an Original or an Edition. If it's an Edition... it should be signed and numbered by the artist.
