How to apply decals.
These photos were taken in May 2006. I am pictured
(blue T shirt, red hat) applying decals to Team Velocity Sailing's
mainsail.
Before removing the backing paper (wax type paper) lay it out where
you want the decal to be applied. This will help you get a rough idea
of location position and it will also help you make sure the decal
is properly lined up and straight. In this image you can see I already
cut off part of the backing paper. We already knew where to apply
the decal.

Once you know where you want the decal to be applied, please remove
the masking tape extremely carefully and slowly. If not you will risk
the vinyl material lifting off the area where you want the decal to
be applied. Be patient and pull it off slowly.

As you can see with this decal it was bigger than what I can cut,
so we had to tile it and put it all together like a puzzle.

Here is the finalized product. This red pelican is actually three
separate decals applied as one.

Here is a image of another boat. These decals were applied for a
500 mile race up the coast of Florida. None of the decals came off
and are still actually on various of the boats that competed that
year in the race. The decals have been through hundreds of miles of
ocean and are still on the boats without any issues. As you can see
the material I use is of great quality and has been put through the
test of extreme conditions.

Believe it or not, this is my work area. Here you can see the 24"
vinyl cutter that I use.
Up closer, the machine is loaded with silver vinyl ready to cut.
